chrisuletz Posted March 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2010 Hi, we'll be going on our first ever cruise in April on the Carnival Valor. I read somewhere that there's wireless Internet available on the ship. Anybody has any info? Is it widely available, or only certain spots? And how much is it per day? Also, is there any kind of GSM cell phone service?

gecko2gecko Posted March 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2010 Internet is available for a fee. We had signal in our stateroom up on the Spa deck, but refused to pay the prices. It was something like 100.00 for 250 minutes I think. Cell service is available as well, but it's like 2.49 a minute when you're out in the ocean. I used my Sprint service in Coz and it was cheaper, but not by much.
Fyly Posted March 17, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2010 I also recommande to look at : http://www.bookccl.com/irman/bookccl/sections/shipboard/communication.html it will tell you all the HUGE prices. On my recent cruise we bought 100 minutes for $55 and we somehow got 10 minutes for free. We prepared our emails on a text document and copy-pasted the text once we were connected to avoid loosing time. I only used my cell phone when we were docked using the local roaming provided not the ship's.
