patsicruiser Posted January 24, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2005 Hi, We are going on the Crown to Bermuda in June and would like to know what ship evening activities you enjoyed other than the Casino when it is docked. Are there things to do in the towns? Thanks.
immargaret Posted January 24, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2005 I've only been to Bermuda on the Majesty, but I can tell you that when you are docked the casino will be closed....... There are activities in town in the evening, there are some local dancers that perform in town. On the ship there will be some of the usual shows, pool activities, and evening entertainment. The Majesty offered the dine ashore program where for $5 or $10 you could get vouchers for restaurants in Bermuda. Maybe someone has a copy of their daily Freestyle news from last year that they can share with you.....
TxRose Posted January 25, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2005 Patsi...we will also be on the Crown in June. I have been finding alot of information on the Bermuda site about shore excursions etc. You might want to check that out. Read about the Hamilton Street Fair on Wednesday and I think there is also something going on in St. George on Tuesday night as well. Which trip are you on? smeyer418 Posted January 25, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2005 The Port consultant will have a meeting to tell you what is going on at each port of call. The Crown is normally docked on Tuesday at St. George and Wednesday at Hamilton both nights which there are street fairs. Also after when you get back something is generally on on the ship. The towns have shopping(IMO Hamilton has the best shopping) and the beaches are easily accessible from whatever dock you are on. Bermuda is a laid back island, You can go to the NCL site and see the various excursions. I recommend the two wreck snorkling tour(only one stop- the two wrecks are on top of each other- one from the Civil War and one from WWII.) also the helmet diving tour- expensive but fun....but no casino in port! hazeleyez3 Posted January 25, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2005 There are multiple night excursions, but you can also stay on the ship - they have a deck party one night, karaoke, soc hop, multiple "bands" and a DJ at the disco. Hamilton seems to be the favorite, but I wasn't too fond of it... then again, if I didn't really pay too much attention to shopping. If I recall correctly there are a few places right accross from the dock that have nightly activities. You might also want to see if any of the local restuarants have anything special - you should get a listing of restaurants that NCL will give you a certificate for. Dolphins Posted January 25, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 25, 2005 It is my understanding that while ships are docked in Bermuda, the casino must be closed and there are no theatre productions in the main theatre. there is, however, dancing and other activities in various lounges. patsicruiser Posted January 26, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted January 26, 2005 TxRose, Looks like you'll be getting off the ship the day we'll be getting on. That's a shame. I would have liked to meet you. I haven't had the experience of meeting any cc members yet. Anyone else going on the 6/19/05 Crown to Bermuda from NY? Thanks again TxRose for the info. frankp01 Posted February 2, 2005 #10 Share Posted February 2, 2005 Greetings: We sailed from Philadelphia to Bermuda last year. I'm sure the daily events will have changed quite a bit, but the Freestyle Dailies should still give you an idea of what to expect. I was surprised that I still had them on my website. The PDF files are large, so give them a minute to download... patsicruiser Posted February 2, 2005 Author #12 Share Posted February 2, 2005 Phil, Thanks a lot for posting the dailies. I sent copies to my friends who are sailing with me in June to Bermuda. Looks like we will have lots of options.
CruiseShelly Posted February 2, 2005 #13 Share Posted February 2, 2005 Thanks for the Dailies!! It has really gotten our party of 6 revved up for out May 22 cruise. Being able to know some of these things ahead makes for a smoother cruise! And we have 3 nubbies with us, so it is really a help to them.
frankp01 Posted February 2, 2005 #14 Share Posted February 2, 2005 The four of us throughly enjoyed our trip last year on the Crown. Just so no one is surprised, it is a smaller ship. But for a trip to Bermuda I think tha's a huge advantage. If it were a few tons larger I don't think the Crown could have pulled into the Saint George harbor. Glad to provide the Dailies. Re-reading them brought back several memories.
cruisin05 Posted February 2, 2005 #15 Share Posted February 2, 2005 If you get a chance to do something at night in Bermuda, I recommend the carriage ride and ask for the extended one. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
patsicruiser Posted February 3, 2005 Author #16 Share Posted February 3, 2005 Thanks, Cruisin. I'll definitely look into the extended evening carriage ride . Where did you do it? St George or Hamilton.
A.S. Posted February 15, 2005 #17 Share Posted February 15, 2005 Can someone tell me what the price is for the carriage ride in Hamilton? I would assume you tip also. Thanks for any info.
e.durban Posted February 15, 2005 #18 Share Posted February 15, 2005 The pool seems to close early (8pm) while the ship is docked in Bermuda. Maybe this is because of local noise restrictions? Anyone know?
