Traveling to Grand Cayman in December

We'll be headed there on the Carnival Legend in December. What's the weather like during this time? I realize it probably varies, but I was looking for an account from someone who's been there during the Winter. Do you have any recommendations on activities to not miss?

Early or late December? It makes a difference.

 

Early December is a transition time for the weather. In this time of seasonal flux rain is more common. One day may have the sunny skies with cotton-ball clouds floating by and th enext may be more overcast with sporadic showers. Winds in transition tend to swing a bit more, but the average direction is from the ENE adn msot tendering is still to the regular docks in George Town.

 

Late December starts to bring the occasional Nor'wester and accompanying cold weather. Local residents speak almost reverentially of the Christmas winds which often start from mid-December. If the winds come around, the high temps can drop to the mid 70's with overnight lows dipping into the upper 60s. Accompanying winds cause ships to more frequently use the alternate tendering site in Spotts. Seven Mile Beach has rough waves in these conditions. In days between such Nor'Westers, weather is typical Caribbean sunshine with highs in the mid 80s and moderate breezes.
