Salt air hair Posted March 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2010 Just recently back from S.Caribbean cruise with a stop at Barbados. From the minute we got in the taxi, the driver kept badgering us to go to another beach than our requested Boatyard. There was another group of about four/five that wanted the Boatyard as well and 2 folks that were going to the Hilton. The driver kept going on and on about the other beach but we stayed firm on the Boatyard. Well, he took the folks to the Hilton first which was past the Boatyard (we saw him shake them down for some extra $$) and then took us to his beach of choice. We refused to get out of the taxi. He then proceeded on to the Boatyard where our $3 fare turned into a $5 fare because "he had to go out of his way to get us there". Apparently, from info from the folks at the Boatyard, this practice has been happening frequently. So word is, if this happens to you, get the taxi number and if you happen catch the driver's name, take that to. I know, it's only a couple of bucks, but that's why this is continuing to happen. Otherwise, a wonderful day on the beach at the Boatyard.
Johnthed0g Posted March 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2010 Some drivers do have "arrangements" with vendors at beaches, the main one was the wrongly named "Blue Monkey"
