bsb4273 Posted March 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2010 We will be on the NCL Jewel in a few weeks and this is our first time on NCL. Can one make reservations for the specialty restaurants on embarkation day or does NCL only allow a passenger to make reservations for one or two nights at a time? On previous Princess cruises, we were able to make reservations for the specialty restaurants for the entire cruise on embarkation day. We appreciate any suggestions or assistance. If you are in a suite you can have your concierge handle reservations for the whole week. However, folks in balcony and mini-suite cabins can make specialty reservations 48 hours ahead. Inside and window cabin folks can only make specialty reservations 24 hours ahead.
terrymtex01 Posted March 21, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2010 Honestly, with few exceptions you won't have to worry about it much at all either way. Almost all the Specialty restaurants these days you can walk right up and be seated when you want to. The popularity of the Specialty Restaurants have dropped so much the last 18 to 24 months that it has been our experience where we just walked up and were seated (at least within 10 minutes at the most). The biggest exception to that would be Teppanyaki which has such limited seating and dining times. We used to have a typed list of what nights we wanted to eat where to give to the Concierge, but we don't do that anymore since it seems so unnecessary. Except of course when we want to eat at Teppanyaki. 8-) The other exception to that would be if you were celebrating a special night onboard (anniversary, birthday, etc), then I might be more diligent about reservations just in case. When they raised the price of the Romance Package from $79 to $135, I think they lost some customers for Le Bistro.
sebas030 Posted March 24, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2010 Hi, Early in the week you can almost walk in the restaurant with no fuss ( except for tepannyaki ) but as the week goes on it is harder to get in without a reservation. Book early in the morning for same day seating. We would wait in the morning because we wanted to go trough the freestyle daily first to plan our evening

New to NCL and have a suite coming up - can you explain how this works with the concierge? You just tell them which restaurant and what time you want your reservation for the week? Does this only apply to specialty restaurants or can they help with any restaurant? Can they do a table for 2? Any info/experience with this appreciated! amistad Posted March 24, 2010 #10 Share Posted March 24, 2010 The last cruise we were on March the 7th, we ate 5 times at specialty restaurants and did not have a reservation any of the nights. We just checked the tv each night and decide what we were hungry for and never had a wait.
