zachnlucy Posted January 25, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2005 We are rather novices at snorkeling, having just two experiences in the past (loved them both), and have already done Stingray City. I emailed Nativeway and explained that we weren't interested in Stingray City and just wanted to snorkel but weren't experienced, and they emailed back that they didn't have a tour to offer us without Stingray City. Any other recommendations?
zydecocruiser Posted January 25, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 25, 2005 I have no experience with Captain Marvin, but the website lists: http://www.captainmarvins.com/gbstrips.htm http://www.captainmarvins.com/ Think most of the reef and wreck tours go to the Cali and perhaps Cheeseburger Reef. You can actually do these (and others) on your on from the shore, but you would have to deal with equipment, transportation, possible instruction, etc. http://caymanislandsdiscounts.com/OffshoreSnorkeling.htm
LUCY55 Posted January 26, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2005 We also did the stingray thing several years ago and want to do something different. There are several wrecks north of George Town and also Eden Rock south of George Town that have very good snorkeling you can do from shore. However, you have to find equipment. I am looking at http://caymanislandsdiscounts.com/UltimateGrandCaymanSailingExcursion.htm Haven't seen any references yet. But looks "cool" and the snorkeling at Cemetery Reef is supposed to be quite good.
zydecocruiser Posted January 26, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2005 References for what? At Eden Rock there are a couple of rental places. There is the one mentioned of the above websites (abanks); also: http://www.edenrockdive.com/ No doubt there are numerous others. I have my own gear so don't rent. LUCY55 Posted January 26, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 26, 2005 I meant a reference for (or experience with) that particular sail/snorkel excursion. There is another inquiry further down in this forum. But no responses yet.
lss111 Posted January 26, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2005 I have snorkelled 4 times different cruises with Capt. Marvin's and I highly recommend them. They are very professional, have great prices and are safety conscience. They are very helpful if one needs it. In fact I will be on the Norwegian Sun in a few days and will snorkel with them again. lss111
