Drink cards, etc.

I have a question regarding drink cards, wine packages, etc. How do they work? What are the restrictions on their use? Are they a good value?

My last cruise was last minute in 2002, and since my next one is in November 2005, I'd like to be better informed.

I received an email from RCCL the other dayabout this matter. As of Jan 2004 they are no longer offering drink cards. They only have soda/juice cards at the cost of $6 or $8 per person per day only for the length of the cruise.
