Didn't get luggage until very late, Why????
I have a question.........Is there alcohol in the fridge located in the cabin? I am a die hard carnival traveler and this year have decided to give the Mariner a try. On carnival, the fridge is stocked with mini bottles and several cans of different beer and a few soft drinks.. I assume if you have one the steward replaces it and charges you accordingly. I myself have never used the stock in the fridge but have emptied it to store my "smuggled diet coke". The reason I smuggled on carnival is that I did not want to carry on my stash. I can say that in 8 cruises I have never been sent to the naughty room. In fact the last cruise I walked on with a cooler (the six pack size) I had some cranberry juice and a couple of water bottles in it. It never got a second glance. I even saw one family that had 3 yes 3 cases of water that they carried onboard. No one thoght twice about it except for me, I thought it looked to heavy to carry. I am hoping that as someone stated earlier that this "crackdown" is because of spring break and that by the time my august cruise comes around it will be a non- issuse. If not........well there is always carnival.
No, there is no alcohol in the fridge. Soft drinks, water, candy.
Heck, bring as much as you want! No wonder there's a Friends of Bill W meeting littering my daily bulletin EVERY DAY. Cheers!
That's one of the rudest and most thoughtless comments I have ever read.

A sincere apology would be in order to all those cruisers who have fought a battle against alcoholism and need the those meetings to keep fighting it while they cruise.

On our 2nd cruise ( 2004 ) and not sure if the rules were as strict as they are now, my DH suitcase didn't arrive until sometime between 8 & 10 Pm. We came out of dinner, went to room then over to the show. His suitcase came sometime in between. There was no note or anything. We had been advised about what to pack in our carry ons so no issue.
Just off the Navigator from last week, just want to say THANK YOU to all of you losers who feel that the rules don't apply to you and attempt to smuggle liquor on board in your suitcase.

My wife didn't get her suitcase until very late the first night. The cabin steward asked us if we had any type of bottles in the suitcase and we said no, the just some toiletries. He said, hair spray? DW said, of course. Steward explains that that's why the suitcase was detained. The hair spray bottle was found and passengers have been filling those bottles with liquor.

Sure enough, we get the suitcase late the first night with a note saying that the case was searched but nothing was confiscated.

So for those of you who feel the rules don't apply to you, we thank you!
A friend of mine was on the same cruise as you, he put smuggled booze into his suitcase just to get you upset.
The last he told me when I dropped him off at the port was I hope cc member "Bound for Liberty" gets upset and complains about me on the message board.

Do not know if i agree with all you have said but smugglers most certainly are Losers no need to apologize for calling a spade a spade.
If the cruise line does not carry your all important brand of soda or you do not want to pay the bars prices stay home.

Thank you! I have several friends who battles "demons" as I call them with their alcoholism. That is why they tend to come to my house more often than our other friends because they know that when they are at my house I will serve only non-alcholic drinks, especially during the holidays. But once they leave I take out my favorite bottle of wine and pop that cork:p.

Many people here at Cruise Critic tend to think before they post. If they just typed their comment into a word document first, waited five to seven minutes and then come back and read their post they probably would delete it. I started doing this and it has helped me keep be a little kinder, in my words, to my fellow poster.
Perhaps lesson learned in your case.....if you think you are going to really need something durning the evening when you get on the ship, put it in a carryon before you get on the ship...problem solved!
I don't think it was a matter of missing anything critical. It was just an inconvenience to not be able to get all unpacked and settled at a normal hour.

Thanks Paul! SOMEBODY gets my point.

Look, did this inconvenience ruin my vacation? Of course not!

All I'm saying is, more and more, society is picking and choosing which rules we want to follow, and when it inconveniences others, then too bad because "I got my pre-dinner drink and saved a couple bucks".

If you want to bring liquor on board the ship, then don't choose a cruise line that has a policy AGAINST bringing liquor on board. As most of you have pointed out, there are choices out there.

I'm not saying this is a true comparison, but there is a correlation (albeit distant) between this and some #%^$@ who decides to tape a bomb to his family jewels and now you and I will need to go through a body scan when we fly. Pretty inconvenient, huh?

If there is an issue here it's with RC, not with the "losers". It's their revenue enhancing rules that created this mess. Why don't other cruise lines have issues with "losers"?
Hmm, so a business, in this economy, has revenue enhancing rules.

Imagine that! (sarcasm, not anger)

I'm sorry to hear about your inconvenience. Please realize that you have options when you travel, and you can choose something else that may better suite you. Probably 75% of passengers bring some form of booze onboard so it's never going to stop. They are also looking for losers who pack soda, which is also prohibited to bring onboard. So, your basically choosing to vacation with a ship full of losers.

If you really have an issue, I would suggest calling RCI - they do a good job settling things and making unhappy customers happy. They depend on alcohol sales and the casino to bring in a lot of their revenue - not gonna stop.

So, using your reasoning, if 75% of people walked out of a grocery store with food under their coat and didn't pay for it, we'll never be able to stop them so let's let them continue to do it. Aren't they breaking some rules too?
