Jewel Upsell to Villa

Just warn your wife about the shower in the AB. They have a full length window IN the shower. Be sure to pull the shade if you're showering while in port, or everyone will get a show. I almost forgot and the window washers went past just as I was getting out.:o Scared the bejesus out of me.:D

I was in the shower when they came by  I started to scream but realized they had there backs turned. Which is what they are suppose to do when passing these cabins.

Oh, so that's why they all carry those rearview mirrors around all the time! :D

Hi,

Would you upgrade a family of 4 from a mini suite to a Villa for $2120.00 more. Why?

I have the opportunity but wife does not want to pay the extra money. Also have the chance to upsell from mini suite to Penthouse for $1040.00 more. Is that worth it or stick with what I have.

Thanks

Been there, done that.

I was out of town on business and my telephoned me about upgrading to a Courtyard Villa on the Jewel for our Baltic cruise last summer.

I did not want to do it. I did not want to spend the extra money. I gave in anyway. Boy, I am glad I did.

There is so much more service and perks that come with a Villa I could take all day teling you about it. It is great for the kids.

We are now sailing with our two teenage sons on the Epics' maiden TA in June. I told my wife I did not want to go. Did not want to fly to England. Then she told me a Courtyard Villa was available, so I agreed.:D

My advice is do it if you can.

LOL Yes, we are really going to have a good time now.... Have to change my whole game plan now. Not sure how this works? When we board, we would usually have lunch in the Main Dining Room.....now we can go to Cagneys ???? Have to read up on using the perks...all newto me.

:o

Cagney's for lunch and priority boarding & escort to your suite! I would have gone for the villa but you will love the AB! Have a great time!

7 years ago our first suite was an AB on the Dawn - since then we've never looked back! The suite life will spoil you for anything BUT a suite. NCL is known for its suite perks as one of the best out there - they take great care of their suite guests from the moment they arrive at the terminal to board until the time they disembark!

Make sure to go to Cagney's for lunch on embarkation day and try to take a picture of your wife's face when she sees the masterbath in the AB suite:D - it's truly something else!

Congrats and Enjoy!

I think the OP made the right choice. We cruise for the ports, but to make the cruise less stressful, we spring for a suite if it's a good deal. I want to avoid the lines at check-in and to avoid the lido most of the time. If we had kids, we'd really want a second bedroom, but we attended a party in the GV and I wouldn't spend the extra $1000 just for the courtyard. I like the bigger pools if we have time. We mostly explore the ports and enjoy our aft balcony.Let someone with a large family have the GV.

Question: In an AB will I be able to board the ship earlier??? What is meant by priority boarding ?????

Thanks

Once you walk into the Port Terminal and tell them you are in a Suite, you will be escorted to a seperate room for Check-in. The Concierge will come and talk to you, find out if there are any dining reservations you want, and anything else you may need. You will be one of the first ones to board the ship and be escorted either to your Suite or to Cagney's. In my opinion this perk makes the Suite completely worth it!!!

Don't forget that when you stay in the suite you will also have a cordless phone that you can carry with you on the ship. You can call back to the cabin or to the Concierge or to your Butler, etc.

Welcome to the suite life. You WILL love it.

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll really enjoy the AB Penthouse. But you missed out an INCREDIBLE bargain on the Garden Villa. We've stayed many times in the GV, on the Star, Dawn, Jewel, Jade, Pearl, but not the Gem (but it's the same as the Pearl).

Our personal favorite is the portside GV on either the Star or the Dawn--they are older and have some disadvantages, but the advantages are great.

Next is the starboard side on those two ships.

Then comes the Jewel and Jade--either side.

And last, the Pearl and Gem.

They all have 3 bedrooms, a private hot tub, private garden, private steam room, and the best service. Plus on the Jewel class ships you have the Courtyard, which is their BIG advantage for the Courtyard is like a ship within the ship.

Priority boarding means you don't wait in all the long lines. Either the Concierge or the Butler will escort you through. In fact, when you arrive at the port and say "We are in the Garden Villa" or "Penthouse" and you'll find you don't wait for long anywhere.

Dinner or show reservations? Call the Concierge. If you want room service, call the butler.

Have a GREAT cruise!

Yes, you will be taken to a small check in room with the concierge that has snacks. You will be allowed to go on board before any non-suite passengers. When you meet the concierge, be sure to ask where and when she or he is available to help you. We never saw our concierge after we checked in except at the parties. See my post on your other thread about what we missed of the perks. We are better informed now thanks to CC and will be sure to use all of them on our next cruise when we are in a suite again.

Lets say you are in a bar drinking with friends and everyone decides they want to go todinner at a certain time. You use your cordless and call the concierge to make your reservations. Call him/her and tell them you decided to go to a certain show, tell him how many and it is handled.

The best part it is a wonderful way to keep track of your children.

Believe me Kevin, you are cooked :D and will find that being in a suite is a vacation in itself! You will absolutely love it from the moment you step into the busy, crowded, noisy, bustling terminal and the NCL rep parts the way for you to go into the waiting room (complete with refreshments) for suite guests.

The concierge is for stuff outside the room like dinner ressies and the butler is for stuff inside the room like room service. If you opt for room service, the butler will set the table up beautifully for you and serve your meal. Another thing that I really love is asking the butler for copies of the menus from all of the specialty restaurants as well as a copy of the daily MDR menu. The butler will also show you how to work the fabulous coffee maker that you will have in the room and will be the one to ask for replenishment.

Enjoy, enjoy, and enjoy some more!

I will have to experience dinner inside the cabin just to try it,,,,, then maybe go to a restaurant a little after that :D

We have found this perk to be sporadic... maybe dependant on your concierge. Besides the reserved seating is usually available without the concierge and quite frankly, it's not the best seats in the house. But, it is nice knowing they are there and you don't have to go early to get a seat.
