DECRAIN Posted March 31, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2010 I knew about the Ice Bar but I didn't realize the Epic had an ice rink but the brochure booklet they sent me clearly says they have an ice rink. This ship seems to have everything. It blows my mind and I'm so excited to be going on it.
CanadianTwosome Posted March 31, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2010 This is the first I've heard of an ice rink... I can't find anything about it on the Epic website... can you scan in the page?
JohnIreland Posted March 31, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2010 How old is the brochure ? First time anyone has posted this.

DECRAIN Posted March 31, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted March 31, 2010 I'm working on scanning the page. I have it uploaded to my computer, but I'm not sure how to insert it here.... It was actually in the second edition of the 2010-2011 Norwegian Cruise Line booklet they sent me along with the Epic booklet. On page 78 underneath Norwegian Epic. time2cruise1 Posted March 31, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 31, 2010 I just opened my copy 2010-11, same page 78, unlike what you posted last entry on the list is Pulse Fitness Center, no ice rink

endymion6942 Posted March 31, 2010 #10 Share Posted March 31, 2010 Sounds to me like an early idea that was scraped. Looks like someone didn't get the memo!:p
Sea-trial Posted March 31, 2010 #11 Share Posted March 31, 2010 Not seen one on the ship and definitely no ice rink on the current drawings I am working from. Maybe someone "slipped" up :)
time2cruise1 Posted March 31, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 31, 2010 Is yours the first edition or the second edition? Wierd. Mine must be first edition it does not indicate any edition number.
FLAHAM Posted April 1, 2010 #13 Share Posted April 1, 2010 Sounds to me like some proofreader who didn't know any better changed "ice bar" to "ice rink."
endymion6942 Posted April 1, 2010 #14 Share Posted April 1, 2010 Sounds to me like some proofreader who didn't know any better changed "ice bar" to "ice rink." I bet you hit the nail on the head. Maybe ice pick instead of nail!:D
Kuffam Posted April 2, 2010 #15 Share Posted April 2, 2010 Maybe Ice Drink instead of Ice Rink. I've heard that drinks will be served in glasses made of ice.
CanadianTwosome Posted April 2, 2010 #16 Share Posted April 2, 2010 Sounds like it was definitely a mistake, and I have to admit I'm happy it was. Coming from Canada, the last thing I want to do on a cruise is ice skate!! I can do that at home any time I want, and from the plans I've seen of the Epic, the space is being used for a lot more things that I AM interested in! :)
negc Posted April 2, 2010 #17 Share Posted April 2, 2010 Maybe an April Fool's joke posted a day early?
garycarla Posted April 5, 2010 #18 Share Posted April 5, 2010 Since they serve drinks in ice glasses, the used ones will have an ice ring, not a rink around them.
DECRAIN Posted April 5, 2010 Author #19 Share Posted April 5, 2010 Maybe an April Fool's joke posted a day early? Um no. My 2nd edition definitely says ice rink I was not trying to fool anyone. I thought it was over the top that's why I posted. I agree with others that it was probably a typo. negc Posted April 6, 2010 #20 Share Posted April 6, 2010 Um no. My 2nd edition definitely says ice rink I was not trying to fool anyone. I thought it was over the top that's why I posted. I agree with others that it was probably a typo. You might want to hang on to that "2nd edition" since no one else seems to have it and you just might have a collector's item that will only increase in value.;)

I can do that at home any time I want, and from the plans I've seen of the Epic, the space is being used for a lot more things that I AM interested in! :) No kidding, especially when I play hockey on a regular basis. A tiny rink aboard a cruise ship is a HUGE waste of space for me personally, I'm extremely glad that NCL isn't coping RCCL with this.
Sthronds Posted April 7, 2010 #22 Share Posted April 7, 2010 I'm a TA and we just got a huge stack of brochures. All say "Ice Rink." They haven't corrected it yet.

memoriesalwayslast Posted June 25, 2010 #25 Share Posted June 25, 2010 THE SPA – is the largest at sea, even larger than Oasis (according to NCL). The gym is HUGE , also the largest at sea – countless treadmills, spinning room, pilates machine room, aerobics room, workout machines, etc. Other activities include rock climbing wall, repelling wall, huge water slides, ice skating, gravity blast, yoga and even bungee jumping.
