worry wart Posted April 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2010 What is considered a good tip for the guides at the falls, the rasta spice man in Fern Gully and the private tour drivers for a group of 12 ? Thanks.
aussiegirl Posted April 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2010 The information from the Princess Cruise staff recommended a tip of $1.00 pp for the guide at Dunn's River Falls. We actually tipped $2.00 pp and the guide seemed satisfied with that. (I had read that the guides will harrass you if you don't give them what they think is enough money, but our guide just happily took all the tips he was offered.) hawkshoe Posted April 25, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2010 You are lucky. We gave $10 to each of our two tour guides. They they proceeded to try to get us for more money to give to the others who helped us along the way. Perhaps the strategy of giving a couple bucks works better because once they know you have money the try to take it all ;).
ne95014 Posted May 28, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2010 Did you book a private tour or through the ship??? Just wondering if we need to still tip the guides if the cruise has arranged. (Thought the tip was included in the fee)
aussiegirl Posted May 28, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2010 The guides that take you up Dunn's River Falls are separate from any ship's guides or private guides, so you will need to tip them whether you take a ship tour or a private tour. We didn't take any ship tours on our cruise, so I don't know what the policy is for tipping those guides.
