bob&france Posted April 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2010 Can this be done ? I know the taxi should only cost $5 p/p each way. We were planning on picking up some beer and ice and just strolling over to 7 mile beach to get a little walk in too. But a .30 walk would be the max desired. How many miles is it from the pier to 7 mile beach ? Would 7 be a bad assumption ?? thanks Bob

BRIFRO Posted April 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 12, 2010 We take the local bus to Royal Palms on 7 mile beach. Cost is $3.50 each and very easy to do. Royal palms has it all right there. We like the live web camera so that our friends @ home can see us live on the beach relaxing & they can be jealous. we like the comfort & safety of this resort. drew sailbum Posted April 14, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 14, 2010 Two different systems - tour buses and public buses. It's a difference in licensing. Only tour buses and taxis are allowed to pull up directly at the tender docks. Public buses do go to the depot which is a very short walk from the tender docks. Public bus fare varies according to how far you travel. The routes which service West Bay all pass along the length of Seven Mile Beach. The fare on that route is CI$2=US$2.50 one way, per person. On routes covering the eastern districts your individual fare varies from CI$2 to CI$4 based upon how far you travel. Tour buses add the fare in to the cost of your tour. Taxis (many of which are large vans or small buses) charge more than public buses.
F19810 Posted April 22, 2010 #9 Share Posted April 22, 2010 Do the buses take US dollars?
drew sailbum Posted April 22, 2010 #10 Share Posted April 22, 2010 Do the buses take US dollars? Absolutely. US banknotes are widely accepted for almost any transaction in Cayman. Some places will not accept US coins. If you pay in US$ you should expect change in CI$ (local currency).
