Rare BamaVol Posted January 27, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2005 We're sailing tomorrow on the Majesty. I found a marine forecast and, with a cold front heading south, it looks like seas may be too rough for tendering. Based on other posts, I'd say we've been lucky that we are 2 for 2 at Coco Cay so far. I love the Majesty of the Seas, don't get me wrong, but it is somewhat activity-challenged compared to other ships I've read about ( someday I'll have to break out of this rut and try another ship :o ). What has your experience been in this circumstance? Did you head for your next port, spend the day reading in your cabin, participate in games and activities? What is the general attitude of passengers and staff when a port is skipped?
ckrobyn Posted January 27, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2005 Great question! I'll be watching for the answer too.....:) Some people have said they have either gone to Nassau or Puerto Rico?
Cloudmaster Posted January 27, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2005 The one time we were scheduled to go to Coco Cay, it was too rough. We got free punch/run drinks by the pool until noon, and spent the day at sea. I drank more before noon that day then I usually drink on a whole cruise. (I dont think there was a lot of run in the drinks)

lisad63 Posted January 27, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2005 We were on the Radiance earlier this month and could not get to Coco Cay. Instead, we went to San Juan the next day. Enjoy your cruise!
Rare BamaVol Posted February 1, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted February 1, 2005 Maybe I predicted it by asking the question. We did not tender to Coco Cay Saturday. The seas were rough - I would estimate 8-10 feet and coming out of the North right into the Coco Cay harbor. The Captain headed East about 20 NM and then South where we drifted and we rocked and rolled until a dock opened up in Nassau at 6:00 PM. They had an alternative Compass out by 8:30 (do they print these on board?). They added some daytime indoor activities like Trivia and Bingo. It was a little too chilly to lounge around the pool but some did anyway. I did not see anyone purging as a result of the roughness but there was a good deal of staggering. Our group of 4 was fine (2 Bonine, 1 Dramamine, 1 wristbands) but the land has been rocking since I got back.

Rare BamaVol Posted February 1, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted February 1, 2005 What kind of crazy contradiction is the name BAMAVOL??? We live in Knoxville and have never seen such a creature :) Please give details. Lisa Lisa, A BamaVol is a UT fan forced to live among the southern enemy, in Anniston AL. My daughter is a true BamaVol - she is in a mixed marriage (to a Bama fan). We miss Knoxville - we lived off Cedar Bluff Rd from 1989 to 1996. We get back for one game every year, except the 2 we lived in California. And, doggone it, that included the national championship. Go Vols! love2sub Posted February 1, 2005 #10 Share Posted February 1, 2005 Dear BamaVol, My sincerest sympathies! We also live in the Cedar Bluff area. We just became first time, grandfathered, season ticket holders through my husband's parents who didn't want to pay to keep their fantastic 40 yard line tickets. YeeHaw! My old college roommate (UT) married a BAMA man and believe it or not, their "mixed marriage" is still strong lo these many years later. I did see them once in a wrestling match during the middle of a televised UT-BAMA game and it almost got ugly. Pretty funny to watch though. Sorry you missed Coco Cay. We were on Princess this Christmas and missed Priness Cay and we're scheduled for Labadee this coming Christmas. We have never made a private island and I want to soooo bad. Anyway, hope you had a wonderful cruise and GO VOLS! Lisa
JerseyGirl23 Posted February 21, 2005 #11 Share Posted February 21, 2005 Bumping.... keep posting, would like to know what the ship has done if it doesn't tender in Coco Cay.
hillkris Posted February 21, 2005 #12 Share Posted February 21, 2005 We were on the Majesty back in October and couldn't tender in Coco Cay due to rough seas. We just had a sea day instead, and cruised real slow to our next destination.
Riversedge Posted February 22, 2005 #13 Share Posted February 22, 2005 Read my post about the Majesty. We didn't stop at Coco Cay and didn't see any reason for it other than cool weather. We've been on the ocean enough that we know that it doesn't get too much better as far as waves were concerned. We were very disappointed. They did nothing for us. We didn't get any special considerations as far as free drinks. We basically sat and floated in the ocean. I think they knew in advance because our waiter hinted the night before that she wasn't expecting us to be stopping there. We could not dock in Nassau until the following morning. For awhile we moved slowly along and then just stopped and floated. Just think how many thousands of dollars more they made by being at sea...casinos, art auctions, bars, bingo.... seattlelover Posted February 22, 2005 #14 Share Posted February 22, 2005 We were scheduled to stop on the Monday at Coco Cay. As it was too rough we had a sea day on the Monday instead of the tTuesday and stopped at San Juan on the tuesday. (San Juan was not a scheduled port originally).
