williamson_ja Posted April 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2010 We are traveling with our 4 kids ages 5-15 in Oct. and need a good inexpensive idea of what to do here. We are definitely open to finding our own off ship recreation. What's a good family activity that would be pretty cheap here?
lovevacadays Posted April 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2010 You could take the water taxi/glass bottom bottom boat tour over to Los Arcos. You can usually find people that will do it from $8-$10 per person. It is about 45 minute tour and your kids will be able to see some fish and sealions. It also quite a lovely ride for adults. I would then suggest you have the water taxi take and drop you off at Medano Beach and hang out there for the day. I think this is about $5 per person more but can't remember for sure. Keep in mind you can definitely bargain prices on this and don't take their first offer. There are vendors all down the boardwalk once you get off the tender so you will definitely find someone willing to take you for a good price. jkjlmilk Posted April 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2010 Going there the first time myself with family in May, so can't speak from experience yet ... but we're planning to follow the advice from another online reviewer who took the bus to go snorkeling at Santa Maria and Chileno bays/beaches. Reportedly, from the cruise ship port, turn right and walk along the shore (ocean on right) to the big mall Puerto Paraiso. Walk through the mall to the main entrance on the other side, where you can catch a bus heading East. Tip the driver to let you off at either beach (Chileno or Santa Maria, near milemarkers 14.5 or 13, respectively). Good information about both areas can be found at: http://www.loscabosguide.com/beaches/beachintro.htm Here's hoping it works!
Napagirl Posted April 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2010 (Three adults, four children ages 11 to 14) We ate lunch at Senor Frogs and had a fun time joking with the clown and we even danced with our servers! After lunch, we asked our server which boat operator we should go with. He walked over to the dock and worked out a deal for us. I wish I could remember how much it cost, sorry. But it wasn't bad. We rode a glass bottom boat - went to Los Arcos and saw the sea lions and such. Then he dropped us off at a beach. We just eyed the beaches and chose the least crowded one. We agreed he would be back in a couple hours to fetch us, which he did. Just be sure to have lots of one dollar bills on hand. There are guys who will help you on and off the boat and they will expect a tip. We had such a beautiful day.

We are definitely open to finding our own off ship recreation. What's a good family activity that would be pretty cheap here? In Cabo we got a glass bottom water taxi down to the arch/rock formations etc. Dropped a few people off at lovers beach (pretty beach but no restaurants or bathrooms) and then on to Medano Beach. Got off the water taxi after telling him what time we wanted him to come back and pick us up. We got a table at The Office restaurant right there on the sand. We ate delicious steak tacos... kids played in the water/sand... we were able to leave our stuff at the table and took the kids out on a jet ski we rented right out in front. water taxi guy showed up right on time. It was a great day... kids (4 and 8) loved Cabo! Hope you have a great day in Cabo!
