smyemar Posted April 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2010 Hey all! Having previously sailed Disney Cruise line twice in the last couple of years while vacationing with our daughter, we are planning an adults only cruise in September to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday! We're thinking Valor in a balcony cabin. Which level and area of the ship do you recommend? Front? Back? Middle? 6?7?8? We have only ever experienced inside state rooms so I am sure we will be happy just to have a Balcony! Does the Valor offer anytime dining? Are all restaraunts on board included? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

Midship would be ideal, but you'll pay more (location, location, location). Have done foreward, midship and aft. Foreword cabins are further from the dining rooms. The Valor does have a steakhouse, for which you pay $30 per person more, if you choose to dine there.
Froufie Posted April 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2010 I would recommend deck 7 since you are sandwiched between passenter decks so no public spaces above or below....midships is great too! If you choose deck 8 just make sure you have cabins above you - not the pool/deck/buffet areas as they can be very noisy! Another option is deck 9 - Lido - half the deck has cabins - the other half is the pool, buffet, hot tubs etc so you are right where all the action is. Fourseventeen Posted April 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2010 deck 11 spa deck...for balcony rooms those are the best on the ship without going to a suite in my oppinion....especially on the Valor.
Sweet_Tea Posted April 13, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2010 Hi smyemar and congrats on your new cruise in September. :) My husband and I will be taking our first cruise aboard the Conquest in August so I know the trepidations you're feeling about the ship, cabin placement, etc.. It can become a nightmare if you let it. Thankfully I found Cruise Critic and now my worries, at least as far as our cabin is concerned, are over. The Conquest and the Valor are in the same class so the information I've gathered could equally apply to you, keep in mind we have yet to sail so this is all second hand information. For our situation we were mainly concerned about motion sickness. I spoke with Carnival directly and they suggested that we stay at least mid-ship on back to aft. We're currently booked in an 8b Balcony cabin on the Empress Deck (Deck 7, port side), which is the middle of the ship, level wise, and there is nothing above or beneath you but staterooms, so you don't have to worry about having the casino or lido deck noises/distractions to contend with. The Carnival Rep said that sea sickness was more prevalent the higher up you go and the more forward you are on the ship. So that helped us avoid going to the Spa Deck which seemed like a wonderful idea at first but one we would probably regret. Again, I haven't experienced this so someone else might be more helpful but that's what Carnival told me. Here is a list of questionable room locations aboard the Conquest class ships. Actually, if you're on a cruise there is really no "Bad" room I guess. lol. :D Bad Room Locations 'Crew Only' area between 1262 & 1264, as well as 1263 & 1265 1278 next to 'Restricted Area' door 1279 across from Air Conditioning Station 1359 across from Launderette 1365 next to Electrical Locker 1372 & 1381 next to 'Crew Only' door 1394 & 1401 next to Pantry 1426 next to Staterom Steward Station 1435 Next to Housekeeping Storage ~ 2290 & 2291 next to (or across from) Stateroom Steward Station 2314 & 2317 next to (or across from) Electrical Locker 2362 across from Printing Workshop 2367 across from Launderette 2370 across from Electrical Locker 2385 & 2411 next to Galley Electrical Substation 2402 next to Pantry 2436 next to Stateroom Steward Station 2439 next to Air Conditioning Station Between 2233 & 2245 are Entertainment rooms ~ 6201 & 6203 across from Computer Room 6202, 6204, & 6210 across from Video Broadcasting Center 6207 & 6208 across from Electrical Locker (and open into small hallway) 6272 & 6275 across from Pantry & Electrical Locker 6282 & 6285 across from Stateroom Steward Station 6354 & 6381 door open into small hallway 6360 across from Electrical Locker 6362 & 6366 across from (or next to) Engine Archives 6378 next to Air Conditioning Station 6380 across from 'Crew Only sliding door 6386 across from Electrical Locker 6387 across from Launderette 6388 across from Houskeeping Manager's Office 6411 across from Stateroom Steward Station 6451 next to Housekeeping Storage 6489 across from Air Conditioning Station 7201 across from Housekeeping Storage 7202 across from Stateroom Steward Station 7237 & 7235 have Air Conditioning Station between them 7268 across from Electrical Locker 7274 across from Stateroom Steward Station 7276 next to Air Conditioning Station 7277 next to Stateroom Steward Station 7332 next to Air Conditioning Station (and opens into small hallway) 7334 across from Housekeeping Storage 7335 opens into small hallway 7336 across from Telephone Exchange Room 7339 across from Launderette 7341 across from Electrical Locker 7345 next to Electrical Locker 7354 next to Air Conditioning Station 7356 across from Air Condition Station & 'Crew Only' slide door 7362 across from Electrical Locker 7363 across from Stateroom Steward Station 7364 & 7366 across from Pantry 7369 & 7371 across from Pantry 7406 across from Stateroom Steward Station 7411 across from Housekeeping Store 7412 next to Stateroom Steward Station 7448 across from Electrical Locker 7453 across from Stateroom Steward Station ~ 8260 & 8261 across from Pantry & Electrical Locker 8270 & 8272 across from (or next to) Stateroom Steward Station 8271 across from Stateroom Storage Station 8342 open into small hallway 8345 next to Pool Machinery room, and opens into small hallway 8346 across from Housekeeping Storage 8348 across from Electrical Locker 8351 across from Launderette 8368 across from 'Crew Only' slide door 8375 across from Stateroom Steward Station 8376 & 8381 across from Pantry 8418 & 8424 across from (or next to) Stateroom Steward Station 8425 & 8431 across from (or next to) Housekeeping Storage 8461 across from Pool Machinery room ~ 9205 next to Stateroom Steward Station & across from Electrical Locker 9206 next to Stateroom Steward Station 9269 across from Pantry & Electrical Locker 9270 across from Launderette & Electrical Locker ~ 10-04 next to Chemical Dispenser Station 10-62 & 10-63 across from Electrical Locker 10-66 & 10-67 next to Air Conditioning Station ~ 11-09 across from Pantry 11-11 across from Electrical Locker

Normal 1 Posted April 13, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2010 We were on the Freedom (Conquest Class) last month and had a balcony (1060). I was a very quiet location yet very near all the action on the lido deck. We did experience some movement one night (took dramamine before bed as a precaution and slept like a baby) but seems like everyone on the ship was talking about it not just us on 10th. We actually booked an inside and were offered to upgrade at a reasonable price and took it. I would jump at the chance to have a balcony on 10th deck again!! ppeckham Posted April 13, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 13, 2010 If you are prone to motion sickness, you'll want to get a cabin midship as low as possible. On the Conquest, same class of ship, we had cabin 6315, a balcony. Great location. Just a few cabins down from the elevators. Don't get too close to the elevators. Too noisy. As other noted, be aware of what is above and below you. You will want to avoid cabins across from the guest laundry too.

SoCalCruiserGal Posted April 13, 2010 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2010 We were on the Lido deck, closest to the pool and it was great! Just a few steps away from the pool, bar and the food. :) We had cabins right above us, which was great. Another perk was that the laundry room was across the hall. I am an iron fanatic, so that's important to me. LOL. I had thought that any noise from the pool area, which includes movies under the stars, would be an issue, but it wasn't at all. Wherever you pick, have a blast!
pokergirl34 Posted April 13, 2010 #11 Share Posted April 13, 2010 We were on the Valor last October in room 9287. Fantastic location. Never felt any movement. It was exceptionally quiet and so close to everything! My next choice would be on Deck 7 pretty much anywhere not near an elevator or other potentially noisy area. We'll be on the Upper deck on the Liberty (another sister ship to Valor) and I'm nervous about being over the show room...but I figure the shows will all be done by midnight when I normally go to bed. Not as many quad balconies to choose from as doubles so we will be happy with what we have :) Have a great cruise! You'll love the Valor!
k2excursion Posted April 13, 2010 #12 Share Posted April 13, 2010 On the Valor, you will not want to go with Deck 8, unless you are in the front of the ship, since the pool deck and buffet is right above Deck 8 except in the front. Deck 7, mid-ship, far away from elevators, is a great location. That's where we stayed on the Valor. We never heard any noise, even though Richard Simmons was staying just down the hall from us. Lido deck balconies and higher would be good spots too, but they are more expensive. From Deck 7, you're 2 floors above the promenade and 2 floors below the pool & buffet. Sweet_Tea, I'm also very interested in knowing where to find that kind of information on rooms.
