Sea-shell Posted January 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2005 Recent Explorer cruisers - how is she these days? Still as fresh as ever? We just booked a cruise for next January on Explorer and wondered if she is still as beautiful as we remember her in her inaugural year.
nednrom Posted January 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2005 Sea Shell, we were on Explorer January 9th. She does show some wear and tear in the cabins but that's to be expected. For example, in our cabin, there was a tear on the arm of the couch, and the carpet was stained in several areas. Outside on the pool deck, some of the pool chairs have broken straps and were pretty dirty. The public areas are spotless and still look great. I did hear that she is supposed to go to drydock later this year. Regardless, you'll have a great cruise!

nednrom Posted January 30, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 30, 2005 Good to hear the positive comments. We'll be on Explorer March 20th. Those of you who sailed recently..how were the shows? Who is the Capt? The Captain is Cpt Pedercini and seems very nice. The CD is Clodagh and is great and very engaging. The cruise ship shows are OK but we really enjoyed the headliner shows that were on and those change weekly/biweekly etc. Of course you shouldn't miss the ice show and the the quest game and the love and marriage game. We had 2 theme nights that were fun too..country/western night and 50/60/70's night. Hope this helps.

nednrom Posted January 30, 2005 #12 Share Posted January 30, 2005 You're welcome Vacruiser, wish I could go with you but my boss has this thing about me doing some work...I don't understand it but I have to humor her to get paid! Hope you have a great time.
2VaCruzers Posted January 30, 2005 #13 Share Posted January 30, 2005 Well...I work for a school system so I'm locked into going during spring breaks, summers (we have our pool in the back yard so I don't go in the summer) or xmas breaks. So far, we've opted for spring breaks.

So far, we've opted for spring breaks. Sounds good, I'll take a cruise anytime over work. I'm lucky, my work schedule is pretty flexible and prefer to go in the winter time when it's too cold here.
