Ok, I have emailed my info to Johna, just waiting on the cc call to confirm! Decided to go w/a balcony this time. I was thinking, wonder if the Superbowl will be played on this trip? It usually falls first week of Feb.?

 

I also would like to thank any veterans out there for there service and their families, my DH was in Iraq/Kuwait in 2004 and had 7 comrads killed during there service, so this is especially personal to us. Go Seabees!

The Superbowl is Feb 5th 2012, our last full sea day. I hope some of us have a rooting interest.

There is not a major monetary benefit..... The rates are slightly "less" than booking early saver with Carnival direct when you factor in the $75 OBC. If you compare the rates with the regular Carnival rates, the group rates are much better. If something happens and you can't go, booking with the group does have a $50 cancellation fee but DOES NOT have the early saver rate rules & penalties. I personally would book with the group even if there was no benefit at all but then I have been on 2 cruises already with this group. Sometimes Sheila is able to come up with some surprises from Cruise Critic or Carnival (lanyards, pins, etc) and being an official part of the group seems to carry some weight on the ship when it comes to the staff. I swear the CC lanyard I wore at the gambling tables contributed to my winning.... probably my imagination but the dealers always commented "Your with the CC group" & by the time I walked away I was a winner every time:rolleyes:. Not so lucky at the slot machines though.

 

So anyway, to answer your question, you won't see a "major monetary" benefit upfront but there is certainly not a disadvantage.

You will still be part of the 'group' and it's activities even if you don't book with Johna. We chose to book with our TA. She always has better rates.

It's not a M*A*S*H thing :p We love ferrets. We used to have 4 at one time, but I developed an allergy to then and can't have them anymore :( They make wonderful fun pets!

I may book this as a surprise for my hubby, he is self employed and this is his slow time of year so a week off is no big deal...I e-mail Johna(sp?) and I will wait to hear back from her. I think I may book 2 rooms, one for hubby and me and other for daughters although one will be 17 at that time so probably too cool to go on vacation with mom and dad...I guess I could just bring my mom along with my younger daughter...I think I saw no charge for name change on group reservation somewhere...

 

We cruised with a cc group on the 2 night to nowhere on the Carnival Dream out of NY...not sure if any of you were on that sailing or not...that was quite a party...even with the 20 foot seas...

 

Should be fun, we always cruise with a group of about 30 each year but they won't go for this, they are die hard RCCL for some reason but that is just more pool chairs for us!
