Denali Accomodations

Posted a few days ago under the title "cabins". Realized might have lost some valuable replies by those who thought I might have been referring to "ship cabins". So, will ask again. We really want to stay in a cabin during our Denali visit. Any first hand experience renting a cabin? Thanks in advance for replies.

Sherry, We stayed at Denali River Cabins last year on a Toursaver 2/1 coupon.

Cabins are closely packed together but are neat and clean. The restaurant was barely adequate; service slow and limited menu. Entrance to Denali Park is six miles away with restaurants and sandwich shops a mile farther at Glitter Gulch. We were there the first week of June and the mosquitos were just waking up-be prepared.

Rules for a newcomer to Alaska:

1. Listen to Budget Queen and Yukon They know what they're doing.

2. Buy a Toursaver book.

3. If you are physically able, plan and book your own tours, you will get more for your time and money that way.

We stayed at The Perch which has cabin like rooms spread out along the river. I think the denali river cabins were on the other side looking at ours. They were okay, but not real log cabin like. We stayed in log cabin at Denali Sourdough cabins owned by HAL in denali, but they had no view. Don't know whether they are still there or not, don't hear much on them. They were nice, small, and central.
