pay phones in Canada

I will be cruising to Canada with stops in St. John NB and Halifaax NS. I will want to phone home and cannot use my cell phone. Are there pay phones near the dock? I suppose if I get a regular phone card here in the U.S. I would be able to use it in Canada?

You won`t have a problem finding a payphone - they are plentiful in public areas.

Any convenience store near the dock will have phone cards. The ship's crew buy them.

Likely, doesn't matter for the amount you are going to use it. I have cards that I just don't seem to be able to use up.
