im going on the voyager of the seas in july snd want to know if my nextel wil work with my group or should i get the walktalkies????

Nextel does not work once you leave the embarkation port (unless one of your ports of call is in the US). Get some 5 mile range walkie talkies for the ship. They work well for us.

Might work at the ports in the US and Canada, but probably will not work while at sea.

I have Nextel and it worked about an hour out to sea upon leaving Port Canaveral and then that was it until we returned. Nothing in any of the ports of St. Thomas, St. Maarten or the Bahamas

Mine too. I really am not a Nextel fan, hubby likes the 2 way radios. I rarely use it. Reception is terrible. We tried our phones in St. Thomas and Puerto Rico didn't work.
