timothy998 Posted May 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2010 Hi there friends, we've finally booked our air tickets to Miami (was up at 2am last Wednesday & again this morning to catch the first award seats offered) and will be booking our second cruise in a couple of days...Nieuw Amsterdam, Western Caribbean, March 2011. I know it's a long ways out, but we're using air miles to get to Florida & hotel points for 90% of the cruise, so it just takes a lot of extra planning. We'll be in two connecting VEs (we anticipate). The kids, who will be 5, 9, & 12 are as excited as DW and I are, and we're all looking forward to our return to Grand Turk & HMC, with stops at new ports (to us) of Grand Cayman & Costa Maya. So the next big things will be to update our kids' passports and plan any excursions. That said, has anyone booked any of the horseback riding excursions in Grand Cayman? And which of the Mayan ruins should we consider? We're thinking of the shorter tour, just because we'll wear out at some point and would hope to explore the port area a bit, but we do have time to think about it and get ideas from other HAL travelers. BTW, our kids loved HAL in 2009, and so did we...so we'll be back, just not soon enough.
jhannah Posted May 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2010 I suggest you CLICK HERE and visit the Caribbean Ports of Call area. You'll find lots of discussion and great information on your ports. Have fun planning!
Aruba Posted May 8, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2010 In Costa Maya I can recommend a tour to the Chacchoben Mayan ruins coupled with a visit including lunch with a Mayan family. Two times we have joined a private (8-10 person?) tour organized by David Villagomez, http://www.thenativechoice.com/ . Both times we were thrilled. It was the highlight of our trip.
