Doing the following ports on the Freedom in August San Juan,Antigua,St Thomas,Tortola Nassau. Anyone who did these ports have any suggestions for excursions?

In San Juan do the Biobay tour through the ship. Review is here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1184751

Antigua we did the Eco-Tour which was a blast. We booked this through the tour company's website. Very professional and actually educational. Lot's of fun. I know I have some pictures from this tour too, if you want to see them.

St. Thomas, last year we just did some shopping then went to Paradise Point via the tram. This year we will be taking a ferry to St. John for the beaches.

Tortola, my wife and son took the ferry to the Baths and said it was beautiful. I went SCUBA diving, I would only recommend that to people that are comfortable with strong-current dives.

Nassau, we went to Atlantis but got rained out. We'll try again this year.

San Juan - best bet is to stay on the ship. By the time the ship docks, it's 5pm and most of, if not all of, the stores in the area will be closed. There is a casino that you can visit, as well as a Senor Frog's, within walking distance of the ship.

St. Thomas - grab a cab and head over to Blackbeard's Castle. $12.00 will get you in the door, and you can stay there as late as you want. Carnival will charge you $50.00 for the excursion, which to me is a rip-off. Two things to do while there - walk the 99 steps to the bar and have their famous 5 rum drink, and check out the Caribbean World Amber Museum.

Antigua - we rented Segway's and rode them all over the place - to the forts, on the beach - it was an incredible excursion. Again, book away from the ship.

Tortola - a bunch of us from our roll call got together and rented a catamaran thru Patouche Tours, and sailed to the Virgin Gorda Baths. I think we were charged $90/person, which included snacks/fruit, snorkeling equipment (they had dingys to to take those that could not swim good to the Baths), and a most incredible sail to and from the baths. Carnival will charge you an arm and a leg, and the walk to and from the Baths site is quite steep!

Bahamas - my husband and I jumped into a shared taxi and went to Cabbage Beach. If you have never been to Atlantis, definitely go. We did the dolphin excursion with the ship (Monarch of the Seas), and the Atlantis water park was included in the price. You can do this excursion both with the ship as well as privately.

Regardless, ENJOY this cruise! It's one that we look forward to doing again!

St Thomas I highly recommend Sunny Liston tours, very affordable, a blast and very informative. You get to see alot, do alot and have tons of fun. He is well known and has a great reputation for being one of the best tours. Have fun, St Thomas is beautiful.

In St Thomas, I recommend the St John Trunk Bay excursion. We have done this before and we have also booked it for our Freedom cruise in July.

We were in St Thomas this past February, we took the ferry over to St Johns and snorkelled at Trunk Bay. How I would love to go spend a week on that island. The snorkelling was fantastic, water was crystal clear.....we did a tour from the cruise ship...it was just to short of time for such a gorgeous island!!

St Thomas - don't waste your money going to coral world....huge disappointment!

San Juan - we walked all the cobble stone streets and looked through little shops, stopped and had a drink......its quaint...in OLD San Juan!

San Juan is wonderful. We've docked at night and during the day. I don't recommend a night walking tour, though. We saw more by hiring a taxi right at the port. One tip that was told to us by a friend is to not take the first taxi in the line, but to walk down and talk to the guy further away. He'll give you a good deal and probably a better tour. It has worked so far for us. Our last trip there we had a wonderful driver who spent two hours touring us around San Juan.

St. Thomas we have done a few tours and loved all of them. It's a favorite stop. We'll probably hire a taxi for a private tour again. We never miss Gladys Cafe. If you google you'll see more about it. It's located down a cobbled alley type street that has flowers and lovely fountains along the way. There's a chocolate shoppe not too far that makes a great dessert!
