What not to miss in Dubrovnick, Split, Izmir?

Hi there,

What should we not miss? We're history buffs but don't like being stuck on a tour for 8 hrs. Are there any sights in these places that you feel are a must see?

Dubrovnik - most people do the old town area.....walk the walls etc. There are some stunning views from the walls and in the harbor. Very cool area.

 

Izmir - we ported in Kusadasi not Izmir but you can visit Ephesus from either port......Izmir is just further drive. There are lots of other sites such as the Temple of Artemis (one pillar left), the house of Virgin Mary (big debate as to whether it was or wasnt) Selcuk museum, the village of Sirince etc etc.....

 

I always start by checking out the ship excursion lists first to see what they offer and then explore other possibilities.

May I suggest you visit the Dubrovnik Tourist Bureau website, it is filled with all descriptions of our historical sights. You can then decide what you want to see while here.
