SeaBaby Posted February 2, 2011 #51 Share Posted February 2, 2011 I only play a couple of times during a cruise. My husband waits for me in the Schooner Bar while I play the slots after dinner. I usually play with about $40 and my best wins were only about $20. When I'd meet him at the Schooner Bar empty handed, he'd shake his head and ask me why I bother playing and that I may as well toss the money overboard. I said I just like to see how long I can make my $40 last. Well about 3 years ago, I won $1,500 on Wheel of Fortune. I asked the cashier to give me the money in $1 tokens, which filled up 2 buckets; I carried them in to the Schooner Bar to prove I won. He was amazed. He didn't even ask for a cut. :p I have never been as lucky since. Suzanne

PudgiPoo Posted February 2, 2011 #54 Share Posted February 2, 2011 My DH won a cruise on the Allure playing Texas Hold'em on the Freedom. I sure wish who ever won the tournament on the Oasis last year would post here. Would really like to know what/how much paid out. I have my eyes set on the Allure.
gotolv Posted February 2, 2011 #55 Share Posted February 2, 2011 Last February on the Voyager I won $1500 on a slot machine. It cost me $40 to win $1500. I didn't give it back and I didn't get a 1099.
Rare Shippy Posted February 2, 2011 #56 Share Posted February 2, 2011 Last July I won an $1800. jackpot on a quarter machine on the last night of the cruise. I did NOT get a 1099 (tax statement). We do belong to Club Royale.....Everyone who gambles on Royal Caribbean should talk to the casino manager about joining. There are very generous benefits if you qualify. The fine print lists minimum bets but that does not really matter. I only play quarter machines but I play a lot.
SeaYa52 Posted February 3, 2011 #57 Share Posted February 3, 2011 Husband won an incentive cruise with work on the Magesty a number of years ago..... And I hit my first jackpot ever for $675 ( that was a lot of money to us) and made a free cruise even better. finally won a slot tournament last June.... $500 instead of my "usual casino T-shirt"..... Probably a good thing I don't live closer to real casinos..but I do enjoy the slots when we cruise. On our first ever cruise back in the 70's my DH won the "worst card" in Bingo ( the game where no #'s makes you the big winner) he thought he would win some big $$$ since the games had been paying higher and higher each round.... But he won a table cloth ( and matching napkins) ...we still laugh about that.:D
Icruzthere4Iam Posted February 3, 2011 #58 Share Posted February 3, 2011 Wound up winning $3600 over the course of the week on Navigator back in '07. Nice thing was I managed to win small amounts every day to get that total so no 1099, it all went home with me;)
mlambert Posted February 3, 2011 #59 Share Posted February 3, 2011 My 87 year old mom won $1274 on a penny machine last month on the Enchantment of the Seas out of Baltimore. She had put in $10 and put in one more $5 when she hit 900 credits. Then, on the next spin, she won the jackpot. What a shock for her .....and me too...because she shared 1/2 with me. Lucky daughter....Great mom! mlambert
Baseballkurt Posted February 3, 2011 #60 Share Posted February 3, 2011 I won $440 on three card poker on the Explorer, $260 playing Texas holdem on the Mariner. I'm hoping to continue the streak in August on the Oasis!
S10Catman Posted February 3, 2011 #61 Share Posted February 3, 2011 I hit $2,000 on the Brilliance in the Med on the video poker machines. I hit $1,000 in Dec on the Oasis again on the video poker machines. I normally play 3-card poker and usually come out a couple hundred up or even for the cruise. We go to BIloxi and Vegas and never hit like we do on cruises. DW has hit $1,000 3 times on video poker and I can't tell you how much playing 3-card poker onboard.:)
bjohio Posted February 3, 2011 #62 Share Posted February 3, 2011 If your winnings are over $600.00 and you are an American citizen a 1099 sould be issued. I think the figure is $1200-the same as land based casinos. $600 is the figure for 1099 earnings as an independent contractor I believe.
Matisse05 Posted February 11, 2011 #63 Share Posted February 11, 2011 On our last Freedom sailing: My aunt won $1200 on her second spin on a $1 machine (I think Wheel of Fortune) B-I-L won $900 on the tables Little old me won a mere $600 throughout the week (minus what was spent) on penny & nickel slots A few others in our group won lesser amounts and some needed therapy by the end of the cruise!:D Hopefully both my flying pigs and dolphins slots will be on Oasis & be just as kind on this sailing. cha-ching!!;)
kmjjdj99 Posted February 11, 2011 #64 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I was on Adventure of the Seas in 2005 and won $9,000 on a $5 slot machine. No 1099
ciera123 Posted February 11, 2011 #65 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Not the casino, but on a family cruise on the Constellation 2003, my Mom won the Snowball Bingo the last night.....$5,487. Now that was a fun way to leave the ship!!! Funny thing was, when my Mom found us in the theater after buying her bingo card, she said a woman had pushed in right in front of her in line. My Mom told us that she hoped she had a better card than that woman.....Guess that's what you get for being pushy. ;)
babyher Posted February 11, 2011 #66 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I won $300 on a slot machine on a a Carnival ship once. Most I have ever won on a ship, but have won some pretty nice pots at land based casinos. I don't bet that big so any winnings I get are a big deal :)
BMT Posted February 11, 2011 #67 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Now in a deep depression reading this. Cruise a lot, play the slots every night...............come out winning? Once.... the princely sum of $120:mad::mad:
koterry Posted February 15, 2011 #68 Share Posted February 15, 2011 $500 in a slot tournament on Celebrity. The biggest win otherwise was $100on a slot machine and I won about $120 at roulette. sailawayjack Posted February 15, 2011 #69 Share Posted February 15, 2011 :cool:May, following 9-11, My wife and I sailed from NY for an 8 day bermuda. While on the ship, we met a young couple on their first cruise. He was a NY Cop who spent many hours downtown following 9-11. One afternoon, I was playing Carib Stud and won $550.00. Bought three Cohiba Cigars ashore for $24 each. That night, after dinner, I took my friend Tom, and the young NY Cop into the Champagne Bar on the Empress. Ordered three double shots of Louis Tre (Cognac) at $75 a shot, or $150.00 for each of us. The three of us sat there and dipped our Cubans into the cognac, and enjoyed ourselves for an hour. The young cop, John I belive, really enjoyed himself. Made me feel good also to show my appreciation to him:cool:JACK IS SAILING AGAIN
