seabreezer Posted May 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2010 I know there are a few during the holidays but what about in the Summer? Do they tend to be only on Sundays? Is there a schedule somewhere? The only one I've come up with is at St. Paul Within the Walls - Opera Arias. Has anyone been to that one? Should tix be purchased in advance? We'll be in Rome in early June and there seems to be very little happening in classical music during that time but I haven't found any comprehensive listing of church concerts. euro cruiser Posted May 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 13, 2010 I don't know of a resource listing all the events at churches in Rome that is available on line. Time Out Rome has some, but the list isn't comprehensive: http://www.timeout.com/rome/search/tag/4286/music I've been to several music programs at St. Paul's - it's a nice venue and is rarely crowded. The used to do something every Sunday evening but I haven't looked in a while. Their web site and calendar is available here: http://www.stpaulsrome.it/english/calendar/calendar.html

euro cruiser Posted May 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2010 I thought of another one - on Sunday afternoons there are concerts at the Palazzo Quirinale (the Italian White House). The music was good, not great (I sat next to a retired music professor who lectured me about the quality at every break, but he was a hoot), but the setting was amazing, a former chapel room. Information is here, but only in Italian: http://www.quirinale.it/qrnw/statico/artecultura/concerti/concerti-paolina.htm
texancruzer Posted May 14, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2010 It's late and I will have to dig out my "Rome" stuff from our last visit. Will do that tomorrow. I know there is one church that has La Traviata this month and I think, into June. I know I checked it in the last few months, since my bil and sil are headed over there on the 20th for 11 days. Will get back here tomorrow. Nite !
