FLL Hotel questions

Elderly parents taking our entire family on cruise in 2006. We are all flying but they will drive down. Airlines won't allow his oxygen onboard. He also uses a scooter. Easier/Cheaper to take his own supply of oxygen and his own scooter. Can anyone recommend a hotel at the port with free cruise transfer and also parking for the duration? Could you include what they might expect to pay? Thanks

Sorry, I don't keep up on which hotels have free parking and shuttles, but the above poster has given you a hotel about 180 miles from FLL...

FLL is Fort Lauderdale - PORT EVERGLADES... Port Canaveral is Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral.

The LaQuinta Inn & Suites in Hollywood (near the Fort Lauderdale airport) offers a shuttle to/from the FLL airport and Port Everglades cruise pier. Good luck! We got it on Priceline for $70 for March 2006. The LaQuinta.com rate was around $180.

I am not sure of which hotels in Fort Lauderdale offer the transfer from the hotel to the port but there are many 10minutes away from the port to choose from.

The street name that most are on is the 17th Street.

I can check others if you like

You may want to consider spending your pre/post nights in Hollywood or Dania. Both cities are just a few miles away from both the airport and port. In fact, part of the airport and port are technically within the City of Hollywood: the airport is the Ft. Lauderdale/HOLLYWOOD International Airport and 80% of the port is in the city.

There are many clean, reasonably priced places to stay that offer shuttles as well as complimentary breakfast: the Marriott Springhill Suites, La Quinta, the Sleep Inn, the Days Inn (charges for shuttle to port), the Marriott Courtyard (no free breakfast), the Holiday Inn (charges for shuttle to port and breakfast), etc. Many of these do allow you to park your car while cruising for an additional cost.

There are also many small hotels along Hollywood Beach, although I'm not sure that your parents would be able to park the car for the duration of their cruise. Very few over shuttles, but a taxi would run about $20. The beach itself is fantastic, with a two mile paved broadwalk (that your dad can use is scooter on) lined w/restaurants and shops. The beach also has a bandshell where there is FREE live music three or four nighst a week.
