Hi There,

I have lifted this from another site for you. We are going on fantasia next week so I was interested in the same. Do you know that there are various drink packages available some with just meals and others that are all inclusive.

". Just been looking at your MSC cruise price drinks. Note that this was last June 2009. I have just been on a MSC cruise on the Med (April 2010) for 1 week( New ship Splendida). We were the lucky ones and were booked on a special offer of all inclusive deal. Still I did note all the prices of drink packages and drinks etc, as we are also booked on another MSC cruise (transatlantic Santos to Dover, 16days) So I was interested to know all the prices of drinks etc. Well they have just changed all the prices and added 15%. Cheapest spirit(only 4cl) is 4.90eu+15% but with a draught mixer is 6.70eu+15%.= 7.70eu. if the bar does not have draught mixes (coke/tonic etc.) then you have to buy a 33cl tin for 2.70+15%=3.10euros. 33cl Becks beer- 3.90+15%=4.50eu. 1 litre water - 1.80+15%=2.07eu. 15cl glass wine-3.20+15%=3.68eu. Cheapest wine in restaurantas is 16+15% = 18.40 eur. but you can order a half carafe of wine for 7 euros+15% (this is not listed but just ask for it). We didn't think the drinks packages were very good deal, unless you are a wine buff as they are 25euro wines) as said you can get a nice |Merlot?C.Sauvignon for 16uros+15%. Also they had a special deal on 14 x 1 litre btls Water for the reduced price of 23 euros (wow) not 25.20eu.

So for our next cruise we have made it into a ALL INCLUSIVE, its about 33.50 a day, but if you like to have water in the bedroom and with your meals everyday, plus 3 spirit and mixes and a couple of glasses of wine with dinner, then you will be quids in. All inc also includes all premium drinks, cocktails, ice cream ,all drinks in the mini bar for balcony drinking. Thought I would pass it on to all MSC cruisers and you can now make ANY MSC cruise into a All inclusive cruise. C.

Thanks Mairead for putting up the info on the drinks, thank God though it wont be me paying those prices:). Seem pretty steep:eek:

Yes AmoMondo, same one as yourself, they have never been on a cruise before so hoping you can now fill me in on what to expect on a MSC cruise as I see your pretty familiar with them. They will have heart failure though when they find out the prices of booze, 7.70 for a spirit and draught mixer, ouch.

Hi, other than the spirit and mixer, those prices are about the same as pub prices here in Perth Australia.

Pub prices here,

Spirit and mixer (std. shot only 3cl) - apx AU$8 = eu 5.30

330ml bottle of beer - apx AU$7 = eu 4.60

150ml glass of wine - apx AU$6 = eu 4.00

pint of draught beer - apx AU$10 = eu 6.60

If we avoid spirits it will be regular pub prices for us, not too bad :)

Before they added that 15% it would have been cheaper than normal. :(

Cheers

Andy

No problem, I'm happy to answer any questions they have.

There will be passengers of many nationalities and the English speakers will likely be in the minority. There will be an embarkation talk by the English speaking hostess which I'd recommend they attend because they'll learn a lot of valuable information about life on the ship which will enable them to take advantage of everything; it will let them meet the host/hostess; and thirdly give them an opportunity to meet some of the other English speaking passengers. they will also have another talk later in the cruise that will explain all the disembrkation procedures.

MSC is not big on announcements, and those that are made will be made in 5 languages one of which will be English.they can't rely on announcements to let them know what is happening onboard. When they get to their cabin on the first day, they'll find a daily programme which I stroingly recommend they read. it has all the info they will need on opening times of restaurants, daytime and evening activities and entertainment, dress code for dinner that evening, port arrival and departure times and tose all important cocktail of the day promos! they will get a new programme each night in their cabin. i always have a quick scan before I go to sleep, so that i know what time i nee to be awake the next day.

there will be a muster drill on the first day. details will be in the programme of the time. they need to be back in their cabin just before the start time, so that they can collect their lifejackets. Their muster station that they need to go to will be on their cruise card. there will be a diagram on the back of the cabin door, showing them how to get to their muster station. They don't need to worry about anything els, crew will be stationed around the ship when it is happening to point them in the right direction.

The cruise card - they will get this when they check in. It has 3 main purposes - opens their cabin door; is used to pay for items onboard (no cash used onboard except in the casino) and when they go off and on the ship. They need to keep it away from magnetised fastenings on bags/purses as it will interfere with the magnetic strip on the card and it won't open their cabin door. Reception can sort that out, but you don't necessarily want to be standing in your swimming cossie in reception to get it fixed (speaks from the point of a very embarassing experience!)

leave beach towels at home. they provide beach towels for going ashore and also for use around the pool.

Finally, have a ball!

Most of you have seen whats listed on the msc site but that seems to be mainly about wine. In that respect, dw the wine drinker, would buy a bottle from the wine master in the wine bar. That was on poesia this month. She would pay 30 to 35 usd for what she wanted & it would be at the table every night. I think she bought 3 bottles over 19 days.

I'm a beer drinker, so in talking to a very helpful bar staff member named jeni, i learned the following about drink packages:

Large draft beer, 14oz, 14 drinks= $50.60

small " " " " " " " " " 7oz, 14 drinks= 28.75

cocktail, 12 drinks, 71.88

soft drinks, 14 drinks, 28.75

something i've never heard mention of was the "forfait"

you cannot get it onboard but have to do it thru your t/a.

There are several kinds of forfait packages with most of them giving you unlim ited drinks in all the bars 24/7. I don't know the pricing but since there's significant savings on the other packages, it's worth checking out.

Jeni told me that if you're a dedicated drinker it's well worth it.

In most cases, you wont find a bar open between 1 am & 6:30am.

You really ought to be sleeping it off.

Thanks again AmoMondo, will see the parents in law at the weekend, so will ask them "What questions would they like answered before setting sail". Can be 99% sure, the all inclusive packages will be question 1, drink, drink, drink:D
