Display liquor bottles

Recommended Posts

but they are more expensive than buying the ltrs or jugs (1.75) and not easy to use. I've seen them in both STT and SMX. They are quite heavy and might end up costing you another $50 for extra luggage if flying. Figure about 5X the ltr. price.

On previous cruises I have seen large liquor bottles 2 or 3 liters and up for sale in different stores. Anybody ever bought one? Or know how much they cost? Or where to buy them? They seem really cool and cannot be purchased in the US so I was thinking about picking one up.:)

We bought a giant Bacardi Rum bottle price was around $60 or less (2008 RC Liberty) for one of our sons as a novelty gift. It comes well packaged in a box. We didn't fly though...and I was going to suggest carrying it on but I guess you can't do that any more right?! It was worth the price we thought just to see his face. It is still a great conversation piece. For the record, they did open it and drink the rum, and they said it was definitely different from the Bacardi in the small bottles. Not bad just different. I would buy one again.

A friend of mine bought the 3 liter giant bottle of crown royal on a cruise ship last year (the one they had in the display window in the on-board liquor store) I think he paid about $60 bucks. He got it home via flying, so if you pack it well, it should be ok.

sure makes me nostalgic for the days when you got a cardboard carry box and could lug the booze right on the plane instead of having to pack it in your suit case.

Not sure how many of you have been in AH Riis in St Thomas, but they used to do a land office business in booze and would have it delivered to the ship for you. That change in airline regs had to hit them HARD.

My buddy bought a bottle of Johnny Walker there a few yrs back that had to be at least 3 liters and came in its own stand where the bottle rocked and tipped to pour. Pretty slick. He's not a big drinker, but always brought back interesting looking bottles to display in his family room bar.

Off topic a bit, but if you have any interest in special rums, take a look at a web site http://www.ministryofrum.com
