connolk Posted May 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Has anyone taken the public bus on Grand Cayman out to Rum Point? If so - are they air conditioned, and how long did it take to get out there? Any estimate as to how far from the bus dropoff you have to walk to the beach? Also, are they convenient to where the tender drops you off? Thanks for the info! TurtleTagger Posted May 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2010 No regular public bus service to Rum Point. You may be able to per$uade a driver to continue on from the last stop of Chisholm's Grocery in North Side, but getting a return trip is not going to happen. Renting a car or visiting as part of an excursion are the best options. Driving takes about 45 minutes. A taxi is costly (more than a rental car). FYI, the bus depot is located in the parking area between Hammerheads Bar and the Lobster Pot Restaurant, a short walk from the tender area. Buses are excellent for visiting the area around 7 Mile Beach. Some have AC, some have AC running, some do not.

Thanks very much for the speedy reply! :) It doesn't sound like the best option, so we're debating about booking the Rays, Reef and Rum Point tour instead. TurtleTagger Posted May 25, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2010 Rays, Reef and Rum Point tour is probably the best option. The reviews/comments have generally been very good.
