mompus Posted May 31, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 31, 2010 Going to Halifax and St. John the first week of July on Glory. Guys want to walleye fish and the girls want to whale watch. Which port is best? Rather do a private tour operator than go on ships tours. Thanks in advance!

There are no organized tours - you would need to rent a car. Unfortunately the consensus among local contributors on this board and other cruise visitors that looked into it is that it's not "comfortably doable" due to the time the excursions leave + the closure of a travel lane on the Harbour Bridge that will cause long traffic line ups on the way back into the city. There are no organized fishing tours either; however there is a small fishing fleet that leaves the harbour every morning - perhaps you can ask them to go out with them for the day??? (although I do not know anyone that have done that)
