scarletine Posted June 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2004 My hubby and I are thinking about doing a back to back cruise next year for our 10 year anniversary. We're hoping to get the same cabin for both trips, and were wondering if we'd have to pack up everything and drag it off with us, only to get right back on the ship and have to unpack again. Or, would we be able to get away with leaving most of our stuff behind, and packing a bag "for show", to get past customs? Or, do we have to get off the boat at all? Any answers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! sally r Posted June 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2004 You won't need to pack a thing. Someone from the purser's desk will escort you through customs. Take your passport, cruise docs, ID and credit card with you as you may need to check in with registration again. You should receive a letter in your cabin near the end of the first cruise outlineing your particular ships' procedure. It varies from ship to ship. We do a lot of back to back and love them! Book early to get the same cabin but if you do have to change it is not a big deal. Staff will help you move. One other thing we have discovered is that near the end of the first cruise, check with the purser and you may be able to get a good upgrade (for the second cruise) at a reasonable price. Enjoy! haifun Posted June 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2004 You will stay the same cabin for both strip, and they will give you the new cabin key for second strip. The cabin key will on your bed after you come back form the last night of the first trip dinner. So that was, you will be able to get off the ship and come back for lunch then take off again until the time departure. I had the B-B cruise last Marh. Rick R Posted June 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 6, 2004 If you can book the same cabin for both cruises, then you will be in the same cabin. We had booked a b/b and got an up grade at the pier to a gs for the first leg of the cruise. That cabin was taken for the secound leg but we got an upgrade to the a os so we did not mind moving. If you end up changing cabins they make it quite painless. You will have fun with a b/b. Rick R.
kat9661 Posted June 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2004 Rick, Did you request an upgrade? We are booked for a back to back in different cabins of our choice, both aft and one a corner aft. We had the option of the same aft cabin on deck six that I declined. We have a Cat. E1 and I would not want to be upgraded unless to an aft cabin. Does the ship upgrade without checking first with the guest to inquire if an upgrade is desired? sally r Posted June 6, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2004 Kat9661, speaking for Rick, my DH, you normally have to ask for an upgrade and then you may select your cabin from those available. You are always free to decline an upgrade if it is offered. Sally NCL Sky 9/00 RCCL 3/01,5/01,5/02,6/02, 9/02,10/02,4/03,8/03,11/03, 4/04,8/04 HAL 9/04 b2b NCL Sun 4/05 b2b Schooner Bar rules! CSW Posted June 6, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 6, 2004 Thanks, all, for the tips. I would love to do a back to back and will tuck this thread in my memory bank, such as it is. CSW
scarletine Posted June 7, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted June 7, 2004 Thanks for the information! It's nice to know that we won't have to pack everything up! That'll just make the cruise that much more relaxing...
