Booked ES - not sure if this counts

I booked early saver for our Freedom cruise in Jan. I'm a little confused about how ES works with upgrades (I think I get the OBC).

We are booked in cabin 7434 - 8B extended balcony - for $599.

When checking rates I see that the past guest special is an 8B for $639 with free upgrade to an 8D.

SO....my quesitons are:

1. Am I even eligible for this upgrade through ES since I paid a lower price?

2. If eligible, should I take that upgrade?

3. If I take the upgrade am I then out for an OBC if prices drop in the future?

This will be our first time with a balcony room so I really have no idea how much different the extended balconies are from a regular balcony. My PVP made it sound like they are quite a bit larger.

Thanks for your help! :)

We have always picked our cabin as we like aft balconies. If it is before last payment, they reduce your bill, you do not get OBC. After final payment, they will give OBC if you do not take an upgraded cabin.

Not sure of the impact of taking the upgrade and whether that would preclude you from later OBC

.......they most glaring Carnival fault and the most consistent thing you will find when dealing with them in billing, OBC, and contraband is ....inconsistency

IMO yes, you are eligible. Yes, you will still continue to receive OBC for price drops (though I think if you switch to the new cat, that's the one you'd need to watch for from now on). Not sure whether you should take the upgrade or not, not familiar with those cats.

Hope that helps (and if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will be by to correct me, LOL).

If you want the 8D you will need to pay the higher price. You not protected

with upgrades unless it the same price.

I have received free upgrades because the price was the same or cheaper. But

since it is more you need to pay the price to get the upgrade.
