Family Oceanview rooms, why are they a dying breed?

She just got off a cruise on the Glory today, and she says the windows on the OV have a ledge where the kids could sit and hang out. I'm looking at the picture just posted and the ledge doesn't look that big to me.

The photo looked like a Fantasy-class ship. The Conquest-class ships have deeper ledges - on our 2005 cruise, our then-5 year-old could easily sit "in" the window and watch the sea go by.

I would prefer the larger OV room to a balcony.
