kuldalai Posted June 7, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2010 The distance on land from the Cruise Terminals to a place called Piazzale Roma is not great and it can be walked in 15 - 20 minutes. There is a new aerial conveyance between the Cruise Terminal and Piazzale Roma but in typical Italian fashion the overhead station at the Cruise terminal is not open yet !!! but the thing is operating (as at June 2010) . Best is take a normal road taxi from the Cruise Terminal to Piazzale Roma then Vaporetto (Public Motor launch) from Piazzale Roma to the landing at St.Lucia Station . If you are into public transport bus service "6 /" runs between the Cruise Terminal and Piazzale Roma also . You cannot get by water from the Cruise Terminal to St.Lucia Station direct. The only water service from the Cruise Terminal is to St.Marks Square which is a long way from the St.Lucia station .
euro cruiser Posted June 7, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2010 The money and aggravation of a taxi to Piazzale Roma, plus the vaporetto across the canal isn't worth it. Simply get the taxi to take you directly to the Venice Mestre train station, and get your train there (almost every train that leaves Venezia Santa Lucia also stops at Venezia Mestre). Much easier, and will cost the same or less, especially if you have two or more people.
