KC Mama Posted February 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2005 My husband and I are daysailing on the Winifred in a couple of weeks. We are looking for recommendations about tipping protocol. Any suggestions? Thank you! :)
love2sub Posted February 3, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2005 We almost sailed with Sharon on the Winifred (we ended up with Alaunt) but when I spoke to Sharon on the phone, I asked her what was protocol on the tips for the daysail. She said 20% to her first mate. Hope that helps, Lisa
Nano Posted February 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2005 Did you book this excursion through the ship, or on your own? If on your own, can you please tell me how to contact the Winifred? Thank You!
Missybud Posted February 3, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2005 http://www.sailwinifred.com Tommy is the 1st Mate and really works for the passengers. We tipped him $20pp and there were 6 in our group. Had a wonderfull day. Will probably do this again next year with Capt. Sharon. ( aka "Capt. Kate" as she reminds me of Kate Hepburn)
TxGal Posted February 4, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 4, 2005 ( aka "Capt. Kate" as she reminds me of Kate Hepburn) We sailed with Sharon and Tommy last week and my first impression of Sharon was that she reminded me of Katherine Hepburn! Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. Nano, this trip must be booked on your own, it's not available through the cruise ships. We tipped Tommy $30pp because we thought he was fabulous and really made our day incredible. Our original plan was to tip $20pp but we each threw in an extra $10 at the last minute. whale-watcher Posted February 4, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 4, 2005 We sailed on the Winifred last month, and it was fantastic. We tipped Tommy $100 for our family of 5. This excursion was a real highlight for our cruise! Tell Sharon and Tommy that the family from Minnesota says "Hi"!
