Jeafl Posted June 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2010 I thought I read somewhere that there is a way to get some cash at the casino without paying the high ATM fees. Does anyone know about that?
DolfanNY Posted June 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2010 You can use your S&S card on the poker table for no charge.

earlethepearl Posted June 8, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 8, 2010 You can use your S&S card in the casino to get cash but there is a charge. I have never done it but I believe it is a 3% charge.
Traveler353 Posted June 8, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2010 You can use you S&S card in the slots to get cash charged from your charge card. There is no charge for this from either the casino or the charge card company. It is billed directly on your S&S card as entertainment, not cash advance. The limit is $1000 a day (5K for a 5 day cruise). I do it every cruise, cash out at the casino cashier cage, keep the cash and pay it off directly when I get home. Free points. bankerbabe Posted June 8, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 8, 2010 We used the casino last trip to get our cash. Just transfer funds at any slot machine from your S&S account to your casino bank and then cash out. Easy as pie . . . no fees from credit card company (it looks just like any other charge) and no fees from Carnival. And as Traveler353 said - you get points/miles from your credit card company. Traveler353 Posted June 8, 2010 #9 Share Posted June 8, 2010 Trav....I never thought of it like that.;)I just read your post, thought about it and called my wife. Explained it to a now very happy wife. It is sort of a second career for her to collect miles.:D For my Amex blue card it works out to normally 5000 plus points ($1 spent = 1 point = 2500 points is $25 cash back) for each cruise plus what I would normally put on the card. Adds up quickly. Last cruise I ended up getting double points, they had a special rewards program with double points for travel going on at the time. I have been booking my flights thru Amex and get double points for doing that. Unfortunately they do not have an arrangement with Carnival at this time. I am not proud I will take free money anytime. :p
jetskier Posted June 8, 2010 #10 Share Posted June 8, 2010 It is free if you use the slot machine to transfer it from your S&S account to your Player's Bank on your S&S card. If you get monies from the tables or the cashier's cage, there is a 3% fee charged. Dave

I think I have to explore this idea more:) So you can just go up to the cashier and get the cash back, brilliant. I use my points for flights as I got a long way to go to get to a port so I collect every where I can

neatokimmo Posted June 8, 2010 #13 Share Posted June 8, 2010 The points thing is brilliant. Do you do one huge transaction a day or break it up?
Traveler353 Posted June 8, 2010 #14 Share Posted June 8, 2010 Last cruise the limit was $1000 a day but $500 max per transaction. So had to hit it twice a day to get the max. Stop by the Credit Union on the way home, deposit the cash, get home and pay it off on line. No interest and no fees.

That's a great idea, but the best way I found to get free money on the cruise is to reach into my wife's wallet, and an grab a hand-full of large denominations of cash that are just hankern' for some casino action.:D Al
bankerbabe Posted June 8, 2010 #17 Share Posted June 8, 2010 And now the next thing they take away is this perk and start charging the 3% again. Maybe. Or they will leave it as-is to encourage people to gamble. I have no doubt that their profit margins are large enough on the slot machines (aka one-armed bandits) to make up for the costs of purchasing currency for the folks that use them as ATMs.
