Montmorency Falls

Recommended Posts

We are going to be in Quebec in late Sept. on the Crown Princess and wanted to see the falls. There are 2 different excursions that take you there. One it appears you are at the top of the falls and one you are at the bottom. Which would be better for viewing and picture taking?

Definitely the bottom, although if you have some free time there's a cable car that connects the 2 areas.

  • 2 weeks later...

We go once a year and usually go to the top. There is a lovely park and a bridge that goes right over the falls. Surprised they would have you pick......but I pick the top. Not much to do and see at the bottom......unless you take the cable car to the top.

Last October we took a local tour which had a stop at the top and the bottom. Both locations are very scenic.

We only saw them from the bottom and weren't too impressed. We saw a lot of water falling down a cliff which wasn't even that scenic. I'd say it wasn't worth going if you aren't going to at least take the cable car to the top. Since most people who talk about them thought they are enjoyable, it must be much more scenic going up to the top.

Has anyone rented bikes without a quided tour to the falls? I was wondering if you could leave the bikes and take the cable car up to the top.

The cable car takes wheelchairs/scooters -- scooter length just fits exactly on car. Entrance is ramped. Trails up there are flat but hard earth that lead to the bridge and beyond to a restaurant - parking area where others come in. Perhaps an e-mail to them would clarify. Vicki:)

Good to hear, plus if you are on a group tour sometimes they have tea at the Manor.

Sounds like taking the bikes on the cable car might work. Thanks Vicki

Can you give more details on that tour? We're in QC a couple of days before our cruise and are looking for local tour operator recommendations. Thanks!

Sure. It is not a private tour, you will be with other people (especially if you post it on your roll call). But it is good, and much less in cost than a ship tour would be.

For English, click on 'Old Quebec Tours' at the top. Then click on 'City and Country Tours'. We took the one called 'A Fabulous Country Tour'. As you see, they offer other tours, too. Viator.com also offers local tours. Have a great time.

I received a response back from an email, and yes the bikes will fit.

Good, I'm happy for you. There is a charge for the cable car -- bought in gift shop area. After getting off, go to the left of the building and up the hill -- second right is the path that leads to the bridge, over it onto pathways. Have fun. Cable car is r/t, but perhaps it would be fun to ride down somehow. V.:)
