LornaT Posted June 16, 2010 #26 Share Posted June 16, 2010 If you have your Booking number, PIN and Password anyone at Carnival can help you ....... I lucked into my CVS (Cruise Vacation Specialist) in 2001 and been with her ever since ......... but when she hasn't been available (days off or sick) I have found that her counterparts in the Colorado Springs office have been so super friendly and helpful ........ but I've had ones in Miami that have been too. You do not have to book through a person designated as a PVP ...... any and all booking employees can help you. Don't transfer booking yet, call Carnival's main line and keep trying til you get someone that suits you.
buddylover Posted June 16, 2010 #27 Share Posted June 16, 2010 We learn that using the PVP, give better rates, that the website, at least my pvp does. That is not possible according to my PVP.....no PVP can give a lower rate than the published Carnival website rate, include TA's....however a TA can cut their commissions and add some perks that a Carnival PVP cannot do either. We have never received a financial perk from our PVP....only the promise of good service which is also questionable.
winddawn Posted June 16, 2010 #28 Share Posted June 16, 2010 I hate to sound harsh, but this guy just irks me! I used an agent for my first few cruises, but then started booking directly with Carnival because I like to have full control over my reservations (the agent I was using was very hard to contact, we always had to play phone/email tag but she was really nice & helpful). The times I booked directly with Carnival it was through the group department because I was the group leader, never had any issues. Anyway this year I decided to use a PVP (because he called & emailed nonstop) so I finally gave in. When we originally booked he was not very friendly, almost rude actually. But I'm a very friendly, outgoing person, so I tried to blow it off and thought maybe he was just having a bad day. Well since we booked in Feb, he will call and tell me about deals and he is always very pushy when I say no thanks. A few weeks ago I called and asked about current rates for a friend and when I wouldnt place a deposit for them, he was very irritated. Sorry, I like my friends but I'm not putting my hard earned money down for anyone who just shows a bit of interest, lol! So today, I call to ask a few questions about an issue I may have with my cousin who is supposed to sail with us (you can read that thread here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1218039&highlight=) I'm guessing he must have been in a really bad mood or something because he was just rude. Please dont think I am saying I am not happy with his answers, it's not that, we are fully aware of the terms and consequences if she cancels her booking, it is just his attitude every time I speak with him. I just dont want to deal with him anymore, I mean it's pretty bad when you dread calling your PVP to ask a question because you know your going to get your head bitten off (thats why I asked here first, I really didnt want to call him anyway)! So I would just like to know if it is possible for me to transfer our reservations to a travel agent? We booked in Feb., have about 130+ days until sailing and are not paid in full. I'm platinum with Carnival and have never booked with my assigned PVP. I can't even get her to send me an email! Just call Carnival's 800 number and take care of your business with whoever answers. As long as you have that 4 digit pin number when you call, anyone can help you. Unfortunately there are good ones and bad ones. If I don't like the one I get when I call, I just hang up and call back. Sometimes that is necessary to get a problem resolved. Some are better than others at customer service. And some just aren't very knowledgable. lol Good luck with getting your issue resolved. And enjoy your cruise.
MyImagination Posted June 16, 2010 #29 Share Posted June 16, 2010 We booked through Carnival online and were assigned a PVP! You arent obligated to even speak with that PVP. Just call up the 800 and talk to whomever you want. Carnival just wants someone attached to you booking so they assign a PVP.
AdrenalineRush Posted June 16, 2010 #30 Share Posted June 16, 2010 Hopefully I am not breaking some type of advertising rule or something.... Yeah, they dont allow us to mention TA or PVPs on the site.
JayinAZ Posted June 16, 2010 #31 Share Posted June 16, 2010 Not to get into a "what is better? TA vs booking direct w/Carnival" but in case some don't know, you can shop around and book with a TA and they will frequently give you much better rates (either a better rate or OBC). I have always gotten at least 10%, sometimes more off the listed Carnival price for my cruises. I'm not sure what kind of personalized service anyone is looking for or the "have control over my reservation." I wouldn't trust Carnival or any other cruise line or TA to pick my room or make decisions about my vacation for me. Do a little research on these boards and choose for yourself. My opinion only. AZ Karaoke Girl Posted June 19, 2010 #33 Share Posted June 19, 2010 I'm not sure what this "PIN" is. I have booked thru a TA, CCL website and by calling Carnival direct and never been given a pin code. I get a booking number. Is that what you are all calling a pin? sea_u_onboard Posted June 19, 2010 #35 Share Posted June 19, 2010 When you call the 800 number the person that answers is a Cruise Vacation Specialist (CVS). They don't have the same quota system that the PVP's have but they do have a quota (as some of them can be pushy also). They do no outside calling (like the PVP's). I used to call the same CVS for all my cruises but they changed up the way the departments work and it is harder to get ahold of him - but I still have his email and he is very good about getting back to me. He has been very helpful to me and everyone that I have referred to him. I had a wonderful PVP years ago and she got promoted and gave me the number for a new PVP - that didn't work out - so I called the 800 number and got the person I use now and havve been happy ever since. So it does help to just call the 800 number and speak to whoever answers. If you like their service then ask for their direct number and email.
