Antigua stop on Serenade may 23

Third stop on our Serenade of the Seas itinerary was Antigua-

When you step off of the ship, there are taxi companies everywhere vying for your business. It is very expensive to go from one end of the small island to the other. It cost us 65.00 round trip for 6 of us from the terminal to Valley Church Beach. Antigua appears to be a little poorer in the middle than most of the islands I have visited.

We arrived at Valley Church Beach and purchased 2 chairs and an umbrella for $15.00 total. The water is a beautiful color of blue and mostly clear. The sand is a bit coarse and shelly, but pretty white. The Nest Bar sits on this little stretch of beach. We ordered some drinks and conch fritters. The service was not so hot and the fritters were really greasy! Beer was good and cold though!

We rented two jet skis for the kids. They really enjoyed riding them as the water is nice and Caribbean calm! Our cab driver came back for us at 2pm. We went back to the ship to change and eat. Then went into town to purchase our souvenirs
