Carnival screwup

I booked a Carnival cruise on a 2 upgrade category promotion but have only been upgraded 1 category, and it appears that they have no cabins left in the grade that I should have received. They offered a bottle of wine, but obviously that won't cut it. What should I ask them to do for me to make up for the error?

You can ask for an "upgrade" to the next level (beyond 2) - but it really makes NO DIFFERENCE what deck you are on --- you will be in the same cabin... just take the wine and be happy with it! (that, of course, is just my advice...:D )

One deck isn't going to make that much difference. If you are adamant, you can cancel and rebook during another cruise, or look at other TA's and see if you can find something comparable.

Check to see you location - you wouldn't want to be below the disco. IF it is a good location- keep it.

No, it's the opposite actually. Lowest deck, mid-ship would have the least movement. Do check about the location though. We were offered a 2 category upgrade that would have put us right on top of the casino. I just didn't want to take a chance as I'm a light sleeper so Riviera deck, here I come.

We are now on the main deck in the middle, so I guess I will take that along with my bottle of wine.

I'd request a shipboard credit instead - say $50 per person... that bottle of wine costs them about $10!!

Yes, shipboard credit would be much better. Say a massage for example, to get rid of the stress that they have caused you!

ladyvee, most "upgrade" sales state that they are "capacity controlled". I would probably take the bottle of wine and enjoy the cabin you have booked.

It won't hurt to try and get an upgrade. They can only say no.

Mid ship and the lower the cabin the less rock'n and roll'in you feel. I was upgraded from a 8A to and 8I. Every morning you could hear the deck chairs being dragged around and the band on that late nite crew party. Upgrade does not always mean a better cabin. Location, Location, Location, I think is more important.

How about upper deck on Legend towards the back? How is motion feeling back there? That's where we are booked.

Gingee, we had an aft cabin on the 8th deck (Panarama) and did not feel the motion as much in my cabin as I did in other parts of the ship. For me I would rather be up high as I feel it more lower in the ship.

Feelthe motion mostly towards the bow (front) of the ship.

I think I'd agree on the tact of maybe asking for an additional comp or movement but in the end be prepared to take the wine and be happy. I mean your going on a cruise to have fun not to go to war over something that even if you win outright is not going to make much difference anyway. I know I've seen quite a few CCL pricing quotes lately that advertise a 2 class upgrade, but in the fine print it also says that for certain CCL classes of ships the applied upgrade will only be one class.

Nope, the lower the better for this and the closer to the middle the better

You should call and talk to a supervisor and tell them that you booked while this promotion was taking place.

I spoke with a supervisor and was told that could upgrade on availability only. I don't have a problem with our location now that this board has confirmed that the lower the better. I will enjoy the wine!
