codyboy Posted June 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2010 Hi I was wondering does anyone know how to get information on food or drinks cost at Crown Plaza? We will be staying there on August 14 and head to Mariner of the Seas on the 15th of August.
kenish Posted June 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2010 Suggest finding out the name of the restaurant(s) in the hotel, then either look on their website or call them for prices. FYI there are lots of great restaurants in SP so I recommend venturing "out on the town".
DMRick Posted June 21, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2010 There is a nice Mexican place just a couple blocks away, called the Green Onion, as well as many other small pub type places to eat just up the street. The last time we were there on a weekend, they had a street fair with food. Don't know if that is every weekend. It would be near impossible to give you food or drink prices from their restaurant, since they have so many choices. Gingee Posted June 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2010 If you go out the front door, take a right and head to the water there is a maritime museum there, take a right again along the water and there are shops and restaurants there.
fpcruiser Posted June 21, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2010 We had the breakfast buffet there last year. It was very expensive, l think around $15. They had made to order eggs but very few other selections. We will eat somewhere else next time, not worth it.
Jiffymom Posted June 21, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2010 We walked one block to the Green Onion. In the morning we walked to Grinders or was it Gingers right next to Sunset Best Western for a very reasonable priced breakfast and we could see our ship only 2 blocks or so. kenish Posted June 21, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 21, 2010 That would be the Grinder. Similar menu and prices as Denny's but waaay better food!

andreadan Posted June 22, 2010 #9 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Without knowing your food preferences, how many are in your party and your budget, I will make a general comment: I can vouch for the recommendations by BruinSteve, kenish, DMRick and others. I have lived in San Pedro all my life and have happily dined in those named independent establishments. All of them are easily accessible and within walking distance a couple blocks from the hotel. Hi, Since you have lived in the area can you give me your recommendation between the Mexican restaurants Acapulco and Green Onion? We enjoyed "happy hours" at Acapulco last year (1/2 price drinks and 1/2 menu items) but a lot of folks recommend Green Onion. Thank you Debr
Wineaux Posted June 22, 2010 #11 Share Posted June 22, 2010 Neither the Green Onion or Alcapulco's have great mexican food so I would say go to Alcapulco since it's on the water. Wineaux Posted June 24, 2010 #15 Share Posted June 24, 2010 If you are in good health you can walk from the Crowne Plaza to the pier...it's about a mile...if that.
Bruin Steve Posted June 24, 2010 #16 Share Posted June 24, 2010 How close is this hotel to the pier? Can you walk or do you need to take a cab? According to Google Maps, it's 0.9 miles: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=World+Cruise+Center,+San+Pedro,+CA&daddr=601+South+Palos+Verdes+Street,+San+Pedro,+CA+90731+(Crowne+Plaza+Hotel+Los+Angeles+Harbor+Hotel)&geocode=Faj1AgIdqi_z-CGCyCo0i9Xzeg%3BFeHPAgIdUivz-CHoUnrQINHMeil_gZLSMDbdgDG8m_Ry6A8pTw&hl=en&mra=pe&mrcr=0&sll=33.887088,-118.150859&sspn=0.402996,0.503311&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=16 But, they are measuring to the auto gate entrance to the cruise terminal...I am not sure if there are any pedestrian openings along Harbor Boulevard which would make the walk shorter than that... But, of course, the Crowne Plaza offers a FREE SHUTTLE to the pier...
Putterdude Posted June 24, 2010 #17 Share Posted June 24, 2010 If you can make do with a pastry and coffee for breakfast there is a Starbucks around the corner from the hotel. Our fave restaurant in San Pedro is the 22nd Landing Grill....the hotel will shuttle you to it and pick you up after dinner. link
bigasufan Posted June 24, 2010 #18 Share Posted June 24, 2010 We went down to the pier where they bring they the fish in every day. downsized Posted June 25, 2010 #22 Share Posted June 25, 2010 We were a party of nine and had dinner at CP...it was over $300!. Yeah...expensive...and (IMHO) not that outstanding. The next morning, I wandered down to the restaurant and asked for a cup of coffee....$6.00! Wander up the street for about half a block and there is a Subways. (I know, not exactly gourmet, but I fed nine of us breakfast for less than $50!) After all, in a few hours, you will be on the cruise ship and can eat to your heart's content! My $0.02 worth. I like the food, and wouldn't hesitate to go back. The price is reasonable as well. We had a roll call meet there in November and everyone thought it was very good.
