78232 Posted June 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2010 I have only experienced the balcony on deck 5 of Zuiderdam which is the smallest as I understand it. Do the larger balconies on deck 4 on Vistas and Eurodam have more furniture? Also do the balconies of the superior suites have the table and chairs for dining or it is just the deluxe suites? Thanks Marcia
fann1sh Posted June 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2010 Not all Verandah deck balconies are created equal. On the Vista ships, Deck 5 forward and aft category "VC" are standard balconies - 6 feet deep, 9 feet wide, with two chairs and a small table. Midship "VE" balconies are only 4.5 feet deep, and 9 feet wide. Upper Promenade deck - deck 4 - has the extra deep 7.5 deep balconies. However, the most forward ones are "VH" and "VF", with a solid steel barrier rather than see through panel. Your best bet are the "VD" category balconies. Eurodam is different. I haven't sailed her, but judging from deck plans deck 5 midship balconies are standard 6 feet depth, while the fore and aft cabins have the slimmer ones. But Deck 4 cabins also have the 7.5 foot deep ones (same solid steel balconies forward).
English_in_Spain Posted June 21, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2010 This is a Superior Suite balcony. There is a table which is big enough for 2 plus 2 chairs and foot stools.
78232 Posted June 22, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted June 22, 2010 That picture is just what I was looking for. Do you remember what ship it is from or what deck? Thanks Marcia
English_in_Spain Posted June 22, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 22, 2010 It was on the Noordam, deck 6, cabin SY6068. There are some more cabin photos (as well some photos around the ship) here http://s537.photobucket.com/albums/ff339/CarolandBob_photos/Noordam%20ship/
Sailkeywest Posted June 22, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 22, 2010 That is a beautiful photo. Huge balcony compared to some other cruiselines that I have looked at! I really love the way that HAL has nice and REAL balcony furniture as opposed to the burlap and plastic furniture that some other cruises offer. I think it makes the veranda feel way more special.
