happycruiser456 Posted June 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2010 Hi - does anyone know what sort of adaptors are needed on the Gem to allow use of UK type three pin plugs? - are they the two round pin type or the two flat pin type (I'm sure there is a more technical description - sorry). Thanks in advance
LoisGriffin1 Posted June 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2010 My cabin had two of the American plugs (flat pin) and one European (round pin). My adapter didn't like the American plug because it was so close to the desk it couldn't slide in properly so I would recommend getting a small one. Mine was thankfully a worldwide one. The European plug was higher up on the wall so could fit the adaptor just fine.
Pianoman6582 Posted June 24, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 24, 2010 I can't say for certain what the name of the plug is, but to my recollection, they have the one with the two round pins and the one with the three large square-ish prongs, in addition to the American plug. That's right, I said plug--not plugs. Whatever there is, there is only one of them. I suggest going to your local "Shack" from whence come "Radios" ;) or equivalent electronic store, and pick up a universal adapter. I also suggest bringing a power strip which can accommodate all your electronic gizmos. Also bring duct tape. You can always use duct tape. If nothing else than to let your room steward know, in no uncertain terms, that you would like your cell phone charger plugged in.... I'm not joking. When my Lee and I were on the Gem, I literally DUCT TAPED the charger cord into the socket to prevent my room steward from unplugging it. Why, you ask? Because Tired-From-The-Casino(or-excursion)-Jay would come into the cabin, put the phone on the charger, he wouldn't always make sure the charger was plugged in. When it wasn't, In-a-rush-to-get-off-the-ship-Jay would have a dead phone. ARG..... but I digress. -Power Strip -Voltage Adapter -Duct Tape And I thank you JWK:Not Subtle
