How could anyone get a free cruise and not enjoy it?????:confused:

Really?? How could anyone post this and not actually ready my 2 prior posts - including the original one - indicating we absolutely DID have a good time?

Hey Randy - give Celebrity or (better for you) NCL a try and see what you think! You must occasionally step outside of the box, to either make sure that you are not missing something - or to confirm once again that you are in the right box!! ;)

I've done Princess and RCI and have a Celebrity coming up next year so I'm open :D

Why does everyone consider it "cheating" to try another line?

Are you the only passenger in Carnival's life? :p:rolleyes::D;)

I'm Platinum on Carnival but we sail any line with the right itinerary and price for us. When I'm on NCL, I know I'm on NCL and don't look for Carnivalisms on NCL. If on Princess, I know I'm on Princess and am ONLY concerned with what Princess has to offer. ETC. ETC.

I think all cruise lines have little differences. And because everyone has different tastes and different things that are important, many people will prefer one cruise line over another. There's nothing wrong with that. And the majority of people, I believe, will have a good time on any cruise line even if it's not exactly what they prefer.

We cruise NCL a few years back . . . it wasn't our style. In the future, we will probably stay away from them, but for the right price or the right itinerary we might reconsider.

For now, when cruising with the kiddos, Carnival makes sense to us. We like the product, and it's at a reasonable enough price that we can bring the kids along without going broke. Does that mean that we will never cruise another line? Of course not.

OP: I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves and had a good time. Perhaps trying NCL made you love Carnival even more, and maybe you will enjoy your next CCL cruise all the more for it. That's all good :)

Thank you for sharing your opinion.

Just got off the 7 day bahamas cruise with NCL Jewel...... The ship was confusing, the whole "free-style" dining is highly over rated. ..... Carnival has them beat on every level. No drink service in the main showroom where the "production" shows take place. The only positive was the casino...we were treated like VIP's and did get free drinks while we were in there. That was only because we booked through Harrah's casino's at seas program. We never met our room steward, never formed any relationships with any dining staff, bar staff, and never got to make any new friends at diiner because you get seated differently every night and everyone wants to sit on their own - either in pairs or in their family groups. DH and I tried - we tried real hard, we had a good time because that was what we made it...but every time we turned around - we would say to each other - "wow...Carnival does this so much better..." Oh...and here was the kicker for us...no embarkation photos (no biggie) on-board photos were done at the most strange hours with the most generic random backdrops....but we decided we wanted to go ahead and at least have a formal done. We stood there and waited while a family group of about 25 folks had their photo done on the stairs and when they were finally done, the photographer turned to us and said..."No more, it is break time for me - come back in 2 hours"...HONEST...that is what he said! By then, we were ticked off, to say the least, and scrapped it completely. I could go on and on, but I am not here to complain...I am here to confirm that I am a 100% true-blue Carnival fan. We will stick to what works for us, what makes us happy, and what we require from our cruise vacations...and that means we stick with Carnival! (even if a different line is free!)

I've been on the Jewel twice and it's one of my favorites. I have had totally different experiences than listed above.

I have never gauged the level of service whether I met my room steward or not. Actually, I have no plans to make friends with them and prefer not to see them as this is the true level of good service - do their job and not be seen. I've had too many of them fishing for additional tips.

We only do lines that offer freestyle, anytime, whatever and truly avoid those that offer only designated dining times.

No excuse for the photographer as that would have steamed me plenty.

All lines are pretty much the same and if Carnival is the only one that makes you happy, stay with them.

I think what's funniest about posts like these are that if you go over to NCL's boards, you'll find someone talking about having just "cheated" on NCL and how NCL is so much better; and on the HAL boards someone cheated on HAL and HAL is so much better.

If I'd believed what I'd read about Carnival on the Celebrity boards (after my first cruise, which was with Celebrity), I never would have cruised on Carnival. We've done three, and at some point will probably do another with them, but for now I'm Canivaled out! I like variety; if I did every cruise on the same line it'd be too much like Groundhog Day!

I think we can all agree, though, that's it's pretty awesome that we have so many choices, and that we can all have these wonderful experiences on these beautiful ships! :D
