I don't recall seeing "this" when Carnival launched any of their ships...

well -- since our day is their night, and our night their day... No, never mind, it's south of the equator so water drains in an opposite direction, thus it cancels out. :)

yep - that's my story, and i am sticking with it! ;)

I really liked the modern look of the "studio" rooms on the Epic. Lots of fun stuff on that ship.

The Studio cabins are, by far, one of the best moves any cruise line has made for solo cruisers!

Re-hijacking the thread: I think that the reason why Cruise Critic didn't do a video on the Dream is because there wasn't anything really innovative or exciting about it. I watched the little video that John Heald posted and it was more than enough. It just looks like any other Carnival ship with one or two more bells and whistles...

Here is another thought....maybe CC did not do a video because John was already covering it pretty heavily. If you were interested in the launch of the Dream you were checking in on Heald's blog - and the information was already out there.

Anything posted by CC would have been a duplicate of what was already out there.

Yep --- although the Ocean Plaza was a good idea... the lanai, which took away our direct view of the water and replaced it with hot tubs, was not appreciated by this Milestoner! (I am not sure that my modification of the word "Milestone" came out the way I intended it to!)

Cruise Critic's own Carolyn Spencer Brown is aboard the brand new NCL Epic, and just posted THIS 1 hour video tour of the ship.

I must say that there are features on that ship which are very impressive and innovative (many good, some - well, time will tell)!

I know that when Carnival brought out the Dream, all that we saw was thanks to John Helad - a few short video tours of the ship. Of course with the Dream, there was not a lot of "new" stuff to feature. I am pleased to see Cruise Critic posting informative video such as this.

Perhaps Carnival will invite Carolyn aboard the Magic for her debut sailing!

Even if you are not at all interested in NCL - might I suggest you take a few minutes and see what some other lines are up to --- spread your wings a bit, even if only in a virtual manner!

Tom

Tom....There is a very simple answer to this....

NCL needs all the help they can get and Carnival does not.

I am sure that Cruise Critic doesn't want to lose an advertiser and prolly NCL is paying bucks for them to be there....Just my take on this....

Didn't CC also do this for the Oasis of the Seas.....

We know both lines are having slight financial problems because of these ships.....;)

Host Mach said it was because it corresponded to the time on your computer. So the time on my computer was earlier than the OP's time.

That's horse puckies.....

You slipped in a post as soon as Tom posted his thread but, he decided to edit and when posting a new thread this will happen.....

Happened to me a couple of years ago....

Hey there Don!

We are up to PAGE TWO and so far this is still an OT thread!

What did you think of that video?

.

(sorry for delay)

.

:) Hiya, T-n-C!!

I personally really enjoyed the video, as so did some co-workers. Late Friday afternoon a few of us went down to one of the conference rooms, and put the internet feed on the big screen. Had a great direct line connection, so no lag time at all. Carolyn did a great job of getting it all spliced to fit into the (still long) video presentation. I was impressed seeing 'live' shots of those things that had, up to that point, been artist renderings.

Had to chuckle a few times when she was alone without her ship escort, and let loose with wording of those few personal concerns (i.e. "balcony furnishings rather paltry").

With the great earlier still shots, and now quality video, I'll be mentally prepared for the Studio experience, avoiding any surprise disappointments. It's definitely doable, otherwise I'd swap to another cabin type.

Will be keeping my eyes on future reviews as they trickle in, and hopefully the newness 'kinks' can all be worked out so that by February all is the proverbial "well oiled machine". (Eeek, I just realized that's a terrible analogy these days , but you know what I mean).

One review of the video by a few who were watching with me: "That ship dude needs as haircut." :p

See ya in a few!

I know that NCL canceled it's second "Epic class" ship, as soon as the economy started to sour. As I recall, they had it in their contract to opt out (for a fee I would guess), whereas RCL did not have that option, which helps explain the Allure of the Seas!

My edit had nothing to do with the odd way spencercoop was able to post on "my" thread before I did. That occurred a few minutes prior to my edit. BUGS in the system for sure.

Tom

...happening on many threads
