cruisefan#1 Posted June 29, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2010 Going on a cruise that stops in Montego Bay and I'm wondering if there are any good places to shop for souvenirs? Would it be worth a trip to Ocho Rios instead?
*Mach* Posted June 29, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2010 You can shop for souvenirs right off the ship. The cruise terminal is packed with small shops with t-shirts, hat, native art, liquor and 'jewelry.' It's pretty much the same stuff you can find in town. If you're interested in shopping for watches and such you'll have to go downtown. For additional input I'd urge you to visit our Ports of Call board for Jamaica: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=111 :)
cruisin53 Posted June 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2010 Just like Mach said, you can shop as soon as you get off the ship. But, one bit of advice here, those locals are pushy, pushy, pushy. Get ready for an experience dealing with them being so pushy. But, it is one place where you can wheel and deal with them. Some are pretty desperate and you can really deal with them.;)
Cruzman Posted June 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2010 I would not recommend that you go into town to shop. My experience is that if you do so, expect to be overwhelmed by street vendors and beggars; they are very aggresive.
