kruzseeka Posted June 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2010 Hi all, i will be on my first cruise in January, is it safe to wander off ship on your own when visiting various ports.:o Hi, haven't done the 'new' ports on the Dream itineraries (Havana, Jamaica etc.) but two of the weeks in the Dream's rotation include ports which Destiny visits. If you have a look to see whether any of your ports are those on the Destiny's route, I would say all of those destinations is absolutely fine to wander around on your own - the taxis lined up at the quayside are also very good and reasonably priced if you want to go further afield. The only place I wouldn't want to go off on our own again was La Romana in the Dominican Republic - I felt this was a bit threatening but the trip to Altos de Chavon was good and would be worth considering if you want to get off the ship. kruzseeka Posted July 1, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 1, 2010 Thanks mate will take a better look at the Destiny itinary and see what matches up If there are any 'matching' destinations from Destiny's itinerary, do a search on this forum for the Destiny itineraries (Coral Islands and Caribbean Gems) there were some detailed reviews last year of the destinations and excursions - if you can't find them, I'll try to locate the link and post it for you. There probably won't be much feedback yet on this forum on the Dream destinations which are new to Thomson this year unless some members of the forum have been there with other cruise lines - but you could try the Caribbean forum and do a search on there for your ports of call or post a specific question. Good luck with your search. Given the improved and positive feedback we're now getting about the Dream (and after the refit) it should be a holiday to really look forward to. :D
