Cunard have just announced this morning they will be changing the method of payments they will now accept onboard.

From the start of the Euro Med 2011 season, Cunard Line will only accept the following methods of onboard payment:

Credit/Debit Cards:

Accepted: Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Diners Club. Visa Delta/Debit.

Not accepted: Solo, Maestro, Switch, Visa Electron or any Pre Paid Credit Cards.

Cash:

Guests will need to keep their account in credit at all times

Travellers cheques or personal cheques will no longer be accepted.

Plus Travellers cheques can no longer be used as payment towards on board accounts or buying foreign currency on board.

Also remember they charge (currency exchange) for the cards they accept.

For UK residents, there are no charges for using a Nationwide debit card in Europe. Makes it one of the best if you travel abroad alot. Plus, I always find the exchange rate they use it quite decent to.

Have the rates gone up for those form of payments now being dropped? Dropping travellers cheques seems abit odd though other organizations I know have dropped them.

What you say is correct. However, Cunard charge is US Dollars which surely means that their Worldwide charges come into play.
