Tem221 Posted July 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2010 Hi All, This will be our first cruise with our children (ages 12, 9-both girls and newly turned 7 year old boy). We leave the end of July-on the Pride out of Baltimore. We have adjoining rooms-deck 4 aft. The kids will be in one room. I am having nightmares of them going out onto the balcony while we are not aware....in the am before we wake up. Does anyone know if the balcony doors can be locked from the outside? My kids are past the climbing stage and do listen to our directives on most occasions but they are children....TIA.

*Mach* Posted July 1, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 1, 2010 There are internal locks that are about six and a half feet from the floor and not easily accessible... Just don't point them out to your kids and I think you'll be fine... :)
viaggi_per_mare Posted July 1, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 1, 2010 No they lock only in the inside but do be aware that keeping them locked is prudent, it is quite easy to get around the divider and go into someone's cabin. We always lock ours but the cabin stewards do leave it open when they service your room so we find we always have to relock it after they leave. The balconies are designed fairly well and the wall is see through and clear. We have been on alot of cruises and we have never heard of anyone having trouble with children on the balcony although this board seems to delight in causing people alarm, so you can expect someone to post at least one horror story. With some ground rules, your kids will be fine on the balcony but as with all children supervision is best, although we had 6 of them and they managed to slip our notice on occasion. Enjoy your cruise.
welcome2myworld Posted July 1, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 1, 2010 If you think it might be too worrisome you could also request a cabin that is connected to a room without a balcony and then you would only have one balcony to contend with. I have done this before on the Ecstacy.
