How does one get invited to do the ships bridge tour.

When I toured the bridge, it was offered during a stop in port. If I remember correctly there was a sign up sheet offered the day before we arrived in port. I also seem to think that it was annouced in The Patter the day before it was offered. Space is very limited so sign up right away when it comes up. It is really neat to be up there.

Did the bridge tour on the Grand in 99, and it was just listed in the Patter like any other activity. The line-up was ridiculous LOL. We lucked into only waiting 90 minutes LOL. I felt sorry for anyone in those Lido cabins who were either trying to have a nap, or just trying to get back to their cabin.

I've read numerous posts about tours of the ships bridge and also galley now that I think about it. Does anyone have any info. Thanks in advance.

As for the galley, the ship generally offers tours there. Just keep your eyes open and sign up when it is announced.

As for the bridge, there generally are no public tours of that area. But I hear that if you write a nice letter to the captain and give it to the purser's staff to deliver to him, you can often snag an invite on a port day.

That's what I plan to try when I board the Princess to Hawaii in April. I'd love to see the bridge area. But my secret fantasy, though, is to get to toot the horn! :) God, I'd love that!

Blue skies ...

2 weeks ago our group had a bridge tour.

We made friends with a female hostess on board and she arranged it for us.

GREAT but high security. 2 officers and 2 security escort and stay with you...

TAKE a camera for sure... :D

Last Feb. 04 we were on the Coral and my DH has always wanted to tour the bridge. We wrote a letter presented to the purser's desk soon after we boarded the ship. We received an invitation along with the people who were celebrating anniversaries and weddings. There was about 20 of us. They said then it could only be done on a port day which it was. Fabulous tour. Even I who thought it would be boring found it to be fascinating. My DH got to sit in the Captains seat. Boy did that make his day and got a picture to prove it.

You can always try to submit a letter. By the way we addressed the letter to the Captain.

Galley has a scheduled tour.

Bridge tours are rare since 911.

I was on a bridge tour. (see my web site). I wrote a letter to the Captain saying I used to spend time on the bridge in the USNavy.

:D Bridge or Brigg :D Just kidding.

Write a letter to the captain asking for a bridge tour. Visit the passenger relations desk and ask that your letter be delivered to the captain.

We did, and a day later had voice mail telling us we'd been granted a tour of the bridge.

Our bridge tour was on a sea day, at 3 pm. We spent nearly an hour on the bridge with one other family. The two officers, and one mate, were friendly and answered every question we threw at them. Take your camera...lots of neat stuff to photograph.

On the Caribbean Princess the galley tour followed the cooking demonstration on the last sea day. The galley tour is open to everyone.

One thing I thought weird when we did the Grand bridge tour, was we were allowed to take still pics, but not video. Not exactly sure why, and this was pre-9/11.

I was much less impressed with teh bridge on the old Tropicale, but the officer of the deck had some great stories. I asked him about the big dent in the side of the ship. He told us that a couple months earlier, they were trying to dock in Cozumel, and the seas were a little rough. They had tied the bow lines and a tug was pushing the stern towards the pier when a wave came up and pushed the ship up against the pier. Judging by the dent, I'm not sure what it must have felt like on the ship when that happenned. I asked when they planned to get it fixed. He said Costa was taking possession of the ship soon, and they could worry about it LOL

Tropicale was the first purpose-built Carnival cruise ship, delivered in 1985. She was transferred to subsidiary Costa Lines as Costa Tropicale in 2001

I bought one of the packages that included a bridge tour (July 03). When all of our certificates came, there wasn't a confirmation about the bridge tour. I asked the purser about it, explaining that this was a present for my DH. The next day I got the invitation for the tour. Ours was on a sea day.

We snagged an invite on the Caribbean Princess because we were in the Grand Suite, were Platinum cruisers AND we ran into the Captain. But I think it was really because we ran into the Captain and asked him. ;)

We joined the folks who had renewed their vows. And we did it on a sea day. It was amazing to stand on the bridge wings and see the entire ship as she sailed. A moment that I will always remember!! :D

On my first cruise (Golden in 2003) I was part of the Teen Club thing. On the last sea day they had a scheduled tour of the bridge for us. We didn't get to meet the captain, but we did get to meet the next guy in charge (I forget his ranking), got to ask a ton of questions and I have a picture of me driving the ship!

It was awesome!

The British Captains' Circle manager very kindly sent me the February Officers list for Caribbean Princess, as we shall be sailing next week. The Captain is listed as Nicholas John Nash. The list is complete...would you like to know any other officers you will be sailing with?

Andy.
